Stamford is stunning - take a step back in history. Quaint shops and FAB restaurants my fave is The Mad Turk. WAlk along the river feed the ducks then take the family to pizza express on the river maybe. Very sophisticated town voted the best place in the UK to live a couple or years back. Worth a visit!

Rutland water is a great day out - take a picnic and go on the waterpark or take part in paddleboarding/kayaking or simply enjoy the walk round the reservoir... 21 miles in total!!! lovely pubs in the area to hit for some tea on the way home - 30 minute drive.
