The site of the last mainland battle on UK soil in 1746. A fantastic historic site where you can step back in time and learn a lot about Scottish and British history. https://www.nts.org.uk/visit/places/culloden?awc=15472_1603718544_1973281584143963ad7740a2ac363beb

The closest distillery to Inverness and only a short 20minute drive from my property. A small distillery compared to some of the larger names in Speyside but this gives it a much more intimate and authentic feel. Good tours with tastings included and lovely easy drinking whiskey even for those not particularly keen on the taste.

A nearby light walk/hike that offers stunning views over Inverness and the Beauly firth. It is only a short 5-10minute drive from my property with parking at the trail entrance. Then a short half an hour walk through the woods with steady incline you will reach the top of the hill where it is believed once stood an iron age fort.

One of the largest and most impressive artillery fortifications in Britain. Built in the 18th Century following the battle of Culloden. A great place to learn more about the military history of the area and take in the amazing views from the ramparts out across the Moray firth.

Food scene

Inverness' only dedicated whiskey bar and an absolute favourite of mine. Knowledgeable and helpful staff whether you are a whiskey novice or experienced connoisseur. Lovely small intimate setting in the heart of the city.

A locally produced craft beer tap room with a fantastic pizza menu. Ample seating indoors or on the roof terrace. Widest beer menu in town with around 20 rotating taps. Great selection of other drinks as well and always a great vibe.

Great fine dining restaurant in the heart of the city just across from the castle. All the food is great but make sure you save enough room for dessert as the famous 'Malteser crepes' are an absolute must!

One of the best fine dining restaurants in Inverness. Delicious food in a bustling atmosphere. It books up very quickly so be sure to make a reservation as far in advance as possible if you want a special dinner during your stay. The quality of the food does come with a bigger price tag though and is one of the more expensive eateries in Inverness.
