Enjoy a peaceful hike up the mountain just to slip, slide and jump your way back to the bottom. Don't worry about having to experience all 27 waterfalls. You can do some or all of them. Its entirely up to you. After all that excitement you'll have an opportunity to enjoy some home cooked authentic food at the dining area.

Tip: Every day a lovely gentleman provides corn for 5 peso in the center outside the church. Feed the Pigeons for a beautiful experience. He's been doing this for 30 years.

For the surfer type we recommend visiting Cabarete, which is known for their wind surfing baches as that part of the country has the optimal conditions for that activity. Not to mention they have great accommodations, food and entertainment. This part of DR is also in close proximity to our Villa.

Products & Services
In the Dominican Republic never pay asking price for any goods or services other than groceries and restaurants. It is customary, accepted and simply smart to haggle or negotiate the price of items or services being sold or offered. Don't feel pressured into buying anything. Name your price, make a deal or walk away. This rule goes especially for Taxi service. Always negotiate a price before entering their vehicle, otherwise you will have to pay the price they decide at then end of your trip.

Driving
The Dominican Republic is still developing in many ways especially their traffic and transportation infrastructure. You will notice poor street conditions, lack of traffic lights / signs, little to no cross walks, aggressive driving and more. If you plan on renting a vehicle you should be extremely vigilant. Always wear your seat belt, drive at a safe speed regardless of anybody honking behind you and obey traffic laws. It is my recommendation that you should always stop completely at every intersection regardless of their being a stop sign. Don't drink & drive.

In Puerto Plata based on my personal experience the best place to exchange currency is inside Jumbo supermarket. You can exchange, send and recieve money through Caribe Express located within the supermarket. They have the best exchange rates in town.
