The most charming and attentive staff and there are often complimentary breads and palate cleansing Granita’s. A Whitby restaurant that seats only a few so booking is highly recommended! Stunning food and my favourite place. Love it here! Not a children's restaurant.....this is one for the grown ups.

If you are in Whitby then this is THE place for fish & chips. Use the takeaway and sit on the Harbourside or queue for a seat in their immaculate air conditioned restaurant (they don't accept bookings). The service is always excellent and the crab salad is the best I have ever had!

Lovely wines, good beers and nice food in the nearest ‘village with a pub’ to Woodpeckers Cottage. Just an 8 minute drive. Attractive covered and heated outside area which is lovely in all seasons.

Fantastic breakfast, lovely atmosphere and dogs welcome to sit at the lovely outside seating. Just an 8 minute drive from Woodpeckers Cottage, you can park easily and nip down to the village shop and get a paper and enjpy a leisurely breakfast :-)

Why not have a break from Supermarkets? If you fancy some nice cheese, a fantastic steak or some Scarborough fish to cook yourself give these places a try.

They prepare amazing meats in their own marinades and coatings as well as more traditional cuts. The’ll even put your chosen dish in a foil tray so you can simply pop in the oven. Our favourites are Stroganoff, Piri Piri Chicken, Meatballs in Tomato Sauce, Lemon Chicken & Mushroom Steak to name but a few. Theres even a gorgeous cheese counter too! Whats more is that they even do takeaway bacon, egg and sausage sandwiches with teas and coffees up until lunchtime….perfect following an early morning walk on the beach.
Ruswarp also has pleasure boats for rowing on the river and a riverside cafe as well as a platform point for the Pickering to Whitby steam train!

Stunning cliff top location sitting above the historic town of Whitby. Why not park here to avoid the hustle and bustle of town centre parking and take the 199 steps down from the Abbey into the old town and peruse the wonderful varied and individual shops?

The Tea, Toast and Post dog friendly cafe right at the bottom of the village serves a ‘proper’ breakfast in it’s music themed setting….the chef can really sing too and often makes himself heard!

The beach at Boggle Hole varies form sand to rock with rock pool galore. The Youth Hostel has a dog-friendly Cafe with log burner for winter and outside seating in summer. Theres a stream, a little waterfall, stretches of golden sand and you can walk to Robin Hoods Bay too. There are about 40 free parking spaces but when they’re full there isn’t anywhere else to park. Great for families who want to escape the busier resorts and well worth a visit. You can also join the Cleveland Way cliff top walk here too.
