Sightseeing
Beautiful and trendy Graffi bridge, part of historic Pensacola. THE 17TH AVENUE RAILROAD TRESTLE BRIDGE was built in 1888. A local Pensacola landmark, people have been painting the bridge for generations and the paintings change daily.
Anything and everything gets painted on the graffiti bridge: tributes, professions of love, invitations to prom, well-wishes to sports teams and graduates, anniversaries, holidays, birthdays, profanity, hopeful messages, celebrations, drawings, artwork, community event announcements, and the list goes on. People get engaged here, and some have even gotten married here. The bridge attracts painters, photographers, and tourists who want a sense of what Pensacolans are all about.
Park at the city boat ramp adjacent to the bridge. If you walk around the bridge, be mindful of oncoming traffic that has poor visibility coming around the curve. If your vehicle is taller than 10'8", do not attempt to drive under the bridge. Bring a can of paint and add to the canvas. This bridge is literally steps away from the Serendipity Cottage and within a quick 3-5 minute walk, you can be front and center enjoying the latest art display. Take pictures and capture the memories for a lifetime.

The museum is located just 30 minutes from the East Hill area with a quick drive to the Naval base. I am a HUGE fan of airplanes, the military and general aviation. This place has it all. There is even a simulator that visitors can ride to experience the Blue Angels in flight. The museum has full size replicas (and some actual airplanes) of most of the airplanes that were flown throughout America's rich history. If you love the military and love history, this is the place for you. There is even a Blue Angel exhibit.
Call ahead because if you time your visit well, you might be able to witness an actual fly over by the Blue Angels as they practice their maneuvers. This museum really is one of the best attractions on the East coast.

Pensacola is home to many native birds, and Pensacola is also located between two major fly zones, Gulf Islands National Seashore on Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key, the longest stretch of protected seashore in the country. These spots are also the first stop for hundreds of migrating birds flying north in the spring.
The Pensacola Bay Area has 10 locations listed on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, a network of 510 premier wildlife viewing sites. The trail is a program of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
I cannot say enough about this fun adventure. The scenery is beautiful and you will love every moment of this outdoor adventure.

But just because the bridge is closed, does not mean you can't still have fun at the beach. Use your GPS to find alternate routes to the sandy beaches.
