Potter County Pennsylvania has been a destination for hunters and anglers as well as stargazers alike for generations. While in Potter County, you are likely to hear gunfire from hunters. Don't be alarmed as this is a normal sound in the wilds of Pennsylvania.

Air Conditioning is Not Needed
Guests often ask if the cottages come equipped with air conditioning. They do not. While the days might be hot during the summer, its a rare occasion that the thermometer hits 90 degrees and warm air is displaced by cool breezes flowing down the mountainsides at The Nine Mile. It's never too hot for a good night's sleep in Potter County!

There is no TV service available in the cottages
There is no TV service available in our cottages in the heart of the remote area of the Pennsylvania Wilds in which The Nine Mile is located. We do have a limited number of TVs / DVD players for rent and a family-friendly selection of DVDs that you can use during your stay with us.

Swimming & Fishing
Swimming and fishing are not permitted in our Nine Mile Lake. They are permitted in the creek behind the cottages and in Lyman Run Lake which is across the road from us, just up Thompson Road.
Canoes and Kayaks are available for rent for a daily rate. Just ask at the lodge store.

Pets are permitted in designated cottages for an additional cleaning fee. If you are unsure if you can bring your pet, please be sure to ask prior to booking.

There is NO WiFi at The Nine Mile
We are in a remote location in the middle of a 264,000 acre tract of state forest. Guests come here to unplug from society and no WiFi is available.

Cell Service
Guests often ask us if their cell phones will work in our remote location. The simple answer is that is really depends on your service provider. Verizon and works for some guests but not for others. AT&T has also worked for some but not others. We cannot speak for other providers and cell service is not guaranteed.

Cooking Utensils
There are no kitchens in the cottages and cooking is not permitted in the cottages. Cooking over an open fire is permitted in our pavilion. We recommend that you bring aluminum foil, long handled cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc.
Gas grills are also available for rent during your stay.

Store Food & Trash Responsibly
We are located in the heart of 264,000 acres of state forest and wildlife abounds! Bear, coyotes, raccoons, and more are attracted to food and trash so please be careful with them and store food inside your cottage and trash in the provided receptacles. Do not feed the wildlife and watch children and pets carefully.
