If you’re looking for a great local restaurant this is my num.1 option: a true family run business with a traditional wooden oven, excellent quality ingredients and list of wines. Pizza only for dinner and recommended to book in advance. Next to the apartment, it closes on Wednesday and it’s better to book in advance.

Just across the river, a colorful market for all kinds of groceries, with a variety of local shops and street food options. Interesting half-covered architecture and next to the Macro Museum.

The name comes from the typical rice ball with ragù and mozzarella which they serve also in different versions, but this place is well know also for the sliced pizza (my favorites are “marinara”, “zucchini+burrata” and margherita”).

Sightseeing

Nice green spaces in Rome are not that many. Villa Pamphili and Villa Borghese are two huge and known parks with nice lakes, but if you’re looking for some place closer to the house there is Villa Sciarra, full of beautiful gardens, fountains and sculptures. It’s located at the top of the Gianicolo hill where you can continue your walk with amazing views and then go down to the center of Trastevere.

Great gardens and architecture for sightseeing. Not to miss the Giardino degli Aranci + Roseto Comunale (orange + rose gardens) and the coolest keyhole, from where you can see St.Peters cupola!

This square is at the “old heart” of Rome, the Jewish Ghetto. Full of historical alleys, buildings and details, great to visit both day and night.

If you visit the Colosseum, make sure not to miss this Basilica just behind (Via Labicana). It features great decorations and access to the catacombs.

Tram and Bus connections

The nearest stop to the house is Trastevere Station which is very practical: Frequent trains go to Fiumicino airport, Termini and St.Peters... or even to the beaches in the north of Rome! Tram n.8 is quick to reach the center of Trastevere, Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Venezia. Tram n.3 goes to Piramide, Aventino, Colosseum and San Lorenzo. Bus H and Bus 170 also go to Termini Station passing through the center. My recommendation is to use the app TICKETAPPY and get time tickets for 1,50€ or the 24h, 48h or 72h tickets.
