Sightseeing

Not as the first place to see on your first visit or if you are only staying for a day in Newcastle but still worth a visit if you find the time, only 10 mins walk from the flat. This Victorian park was voted "Britain s best park" in 2005. There s a lake in the middle and next to the Rose garden you ll see a lovely old building with a cafe on the side. Great place for a picnic. I usually play basketball there. By the way, you might see alot of Orthodox jewish people on your way to the park. Its an amazing scene.

20 mins walk from the flat. This is one of the top 4 famous bridges of Newcastle. ( The other three are The Swing bridge, Tyne bridge and the Millenium bridge) . You can't miss them as they are pretty close to each other). You can then walk down the quayside and enjoy a drink at one of the nice bars/cafes in the area.

25-30 mins walk from the flat. This is the heart of Newcastle city cente. Yes, Earl Grey tea was named after Mr Grey the British prime minister from 1830-1834. You ll see the beautiful grey street lined with bars and restaurants that connects this to Dean steet and then to the quayside from there.

About 30-45 mins by metro, this is where the beach is. There s a nice little market at Tynemouth station and then you can walk along the beach all the way to Whitley bay before you take the metro back. Along the beach you ll ses cafes and places to stop for fish and chips too.. to use the metro, you can simply get a day pass for around £7-8 and use it to take the metro to visit other places like Jesmod Dene etc which are abit furthur from the centre too.

30-35 mins walk from the flat. Nice park in Central Newcastle with a lake in the middle. Good place for a picnic on a nice sunny day. The park is flanked by St James football stadium ( home to Newcastle united football club) . China town is on the other side of the park if you need to grab a bite.

20-25 mins walk from the flat, my favourite non-touristy yet popular cafe on the bank of the river. Nice place for a coffee and a stroll down Gateshead quays and the woods . This is also a historical area where the ships used to get loaded with coal...

Food scene

25 mins walk from the flat, the Sunday market in Newcastle (on the quayside) is a great place to grab some food on Sundays. For the rest of the week there s plenty of options for food, cafes, bars and restaurants around this area too.
