This is a must visit if you are into California mining history. You can take the tour or just hand out and have picnic. Their are hiking trails and some beautiful buildings.

There are several areas of the recreation area you can visit, the closest is taking the Iowa Hill rd out of Colfax Down to the North Fork of the American river. You can pan for gold and hike up and down the river. Be sure to at least take a ride and see this beautiful place

This is a very fun place, their are river sports and picnicking. The gold discovery site is a must visit. check online for white water rafting and more.

From Auburn to Truckee there are so many places to see from lakes and rivers to historic mining sites. Check hwy 20 and 49 and there are many places to explore off of hwy 80.
