At the foot of the Chilterns and accessible by one stop on the train from Stoke Mandeville, Wendover is a pretty and historic market town containing many individual shops and places to eat. A particular favourite is Rumsey's Chocolaterie in the High Street where you can see their chocolates in the making in the cafe. If you like walking, there is a lovely walk from Coombe Hill (National Trust) down to Wendover, browsing the shops and restaurants, then back up to Coombe Hill. Coombe Hill is the highest point in the Chilterns and offers wonderful views across Buckinghamshire as well as a view of Chequers, the British Prime Minister's country home.
