Our favorite Japanese izakaya (neighborhood pub), Two Ten Jack is a fantastic place to try all kinds of expertly crafted small plates and cocktails. We highly recommend hitting them up at happy hour (m-th 4pm - 6pm) to try their Crispy Rice + Spicy Tuna entree and pairing it with one of their Maki rolls. Please note, this place is a little on the pricey side. Easy to spend $90+ (including tax and tip) for 2 people. I know because I did that yesterday. :) Stop by Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream afterwords, it's right there in the same area and it's the best ice cream ON EARTH.

*If you're only going to eat at one restaurant on your trip to Nashville, this would be the one we recommend! * Pastaria is an Italian restaurant in the $75 - $100 range for 2. But trust me, it's worth it! We HIGHLY recommend the Pistachio Ravioli as an entree and don't miss the Crispy Risotto Balls for an app! Skip the pizza, you can find better pizza. They also make their own Gelato! It's also a short walk to Centennial Park, the Parthenon, and Vanderbilt campus.

Big crowd pleaser, this one! Fat Bottom is a wonderful, inexpensive place to enjoy amazing beer and a great burger. The portions are good, the staff is super friendly, and they offer tours of the brewery every Friday and Saturday. Our favorite menu items include the Pretzels and Beer Cheese, the Baked Bri with Red Ale Cartelized Apples and Panchetta, and of course the Fat Bottom Burger. You can get whatever to drink here but seriously, get beer and get an Ida Golden Ale.

Blink and you'll miss this tiny 1920's themed Parisian Bistro as you drive by. But seriously, if you're wanting an excellent date dinner, go here. The owner/staff is first generation from France, the very simple menu is simple for a reason: because it works, and they have over 75 French wines available. Cannot recommend this place enough and it's a very short drive from the house.

Mas Tacos is an extremely unpretentious, hipster taco joint that's a staple of East Nash (where all the hipsters live, duh). Affordable: yes, delicious: absolutely, clean: ehhh... just don't look too closely. Nonetheless, still totally recommend this place. Definitely try the Fried Plantains or the Elote (Mexican street corn).

This one's a little further out (on the south side of town) but it has the best breakfast/brunch and coffee in town hands down. Doesn't matter when you go, there will be a line. But that's a good thing, it means it's worth it! We 100% recommend the Crispy Yeasted Waffle for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Doughnuts! Or, more accurately, 100 layer Croughnuts (croissant + doughnut)! I promise, if you've never had Five Daughters before, it's actually life changing. Our favorite is the King Kong which according to their website is "Rolled in sugar, infused with vanilla buttercream, and topped with maple glaze and candied bacon pieces". Yup.

Rounding out our list of food related adventures is quite literally the best ice cream I, personally, have ever tasted. If you want the best bang for your buck get a trio and try three different scoops! But if you could only get one, go with the Brown Butter Almond Brittle. You'll thank me later.

This one is less for the food and more for the insanely creative cocktail collection (which is always $2 off mon-fri until 7pm). Best of all is their 23 pinball machines, foosball, duckpin, ping pong, bocce, and 20+ free-to-play arcade machines!

If you're headed downtown and need food, the Assembly Food Hall is your best option. Live music, 30+ bars and restaurants, super convent location. Just don't park there. Park at the Library. It's a short walk and it's way cheaper.

This place is truly amazing! It's like an indoor tropical arboretum, a bunch of restaurants, a hotel, and Disneyland all collided into one place. Best of all, if you park at the mall next door and walk over, if can be a completely cost-free date!

This is one of our favorite places to go on a Saturday morning. Many rotating outdoor vendors, huge foodcourt inside, right next to bicentennial park and the beautiful state capitol building. If you're wondering how to start your day, just start here, grab some coffee, check out the vendors, see where the city takes you.

Two words to get you excited: Free Museum! (I'm a nerd and I'm frugal... so sue me.) In all seriousness though, this is definitely one of the best museums I've been to in Nashville and there's no entry fee. Moreover, it's right next to the Farmer's Market, Bicentennial Park, and the state capitol building.

One of the three best parks in Nashville, but definitely the largest. This is also the best area to go biking, rollerblading, running, bird-watching, or just spinning hula hoops around like a ding-dong. Whatever floats your boat.

This one's a little pricey if you don't have an annual pass but if you'd looking for the most beautiful, well manicured gardens in Nashville, this would be that. You can also tour the historic Cheek mansion and make a day of exploring the 55-acre estate.

If historic manors are your thing, the old home of 7th US President Andrew Jackson is a very worthwhile experience. There's also a self-guided audio tour that's pretty well done.

If long scenic drives are your thing, Natchez Trace has you covered. This 440 mile byway links Nashville, Tennessee, to Natchez, Mississippi. It also has plenty of great day hikes and lots of people like to bike parts of the trail (though I will warn you there's a ton of hills).

If you want to know Nashville's true gem, it's Franklin. This little town about 40 minutes south is truly picturesque. The Factory, located on the northern edge of Franklin proper, is an indoor shopping area that's absolutely true blue Nashville! If you're headed out that way, just try it out.
