Food scene
A small art gallery and cafe. Seating is outdoors in a beautiful well-manicured garden with lots of hidden treasures and art throughout. The ingredients used in their food are garden fresh. It's an excellent place to have lunch on a sunny day and fun to walk around inside the gallery and garden to appreciate the local artwork.

Excellent (although a little pricey) Thai food. They also have American food on the menu incase you're not in the mood for Thai. They also serve alcohol. It's one of the few restaurants in Volcano that are open passed 7pm.

Tasty dining options with a variety of local and American dishes. The Eggs Benedict with crab cakes is a favorite of mine.

Great Japanese restaurant in Hilo. The Sushi rolls and appetizers are really good. I like to order a variety of dishes and sake for everyone to share.

My favorite grassy beach park in Hilo. Really beautiful lawn to hang out on with a shallow sandy water surrounding that you can stand in or swim. Often has sea turtles.

Pretty neat beach with a shallow brackish tidal pool, grassy area and natural spring, rocky tidal pools and coast line, and a rocky beach. Also has remnants of Hawaiian ruins. Can be a cool place to explore. Usually gets cloudy in the afternoons so mornings are best. Not a good place for swimming, but you can wade in the shallow tidal pools.

Pretty neat beach with a shallow brackish tidal pool, grassy area and natural spring, rocky tidal pools and coast line, and a rocky beach. Also has remnants of Hawaiian ruins. Can be a cool place to explore. Usually gets cloudy in the afternoons so mornings are best. Not a good place for swimming, but you can wade in the shallow tidal pools.

Expect to make a full day out of visiting this beach.
DIRECTIONS: The beach is accessed from the North end of Beach Road in Hawaiian Paradise Park. If your GPS is not taking you to Beach Road, then you're not going to find the beach.

This is a hippy nude beach. It's an interesting scene and can be fun for those adventurous travelers. On Sundays there is often a drum circle and the beach gets crowded and lively. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY; nudity, alcohol, and marijuana is commonly indulged in here.
