We love the Phoenicia Diner! Great for breakfast, lunch or an early dinner. Local ingredients, great food and a good outdoor area with picnic tables and heat lamps. Open from 8AM to 6PM Thursday through Tuesdays (closed on Wednesdays) and walk-in only. They get pretty busy but the wait usually isn't too long!

Oakley's is just a short drive away from The Gateway and has great wood-fired pizzas, salads, burgers and more. During the summer they have live music and outdoor seating with heat lamps. They also have a bar and a fireplace indoors. They do a lot of take-out which you can get and bring back to enjoy in the lounge at The Gateway!

We love Maeve's for coffee, breakfast or sandwiches for lunch. They have great pastries and they make it a mission to provide opportunities for and utilize products that support those with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Delicious baked goods, sandwiches, soups, pizzas, etc. We especially love their grilled cheese and tomato soup! If you go in the summer you may be greeted by a friendly chicken on their property. Definitely grab some bread or pastries for the trip home as well!

Filipino food and Asian market just outside of Woodstock. Totally worth the drive and they have a really cute area outside with a hammock and tree stumps for sitting. Their food is delicious and the owners are really great.

Neighborhoods

Really cute town! The Nest Egg is a good stop for gifts and the town has great ice cream, antique shops, a farmers market and good restaurants. Nice to walk around and explore! The Tanbark Loop Trailhead is also right in town and offers a great overlook right over town.

We always recommend stopping by Kingston on your way to or back home from The Gateway at Pine Hill! The historic part of town has buildings that pre-date the revolutionary war and a waterfront area with really cute stores. We highly recommend Kingston Bread, Rough Draft Books, Tortilla Taco Bar, Clove & Creek and Kingston Wine!

Our Favorite Hikes

A great four mile hike that takes you to a smaller but still beautiful waterfall. The best part of the hike though is the journey with some fun creek-crossings and a steady incline along the creek. Good canopy for warmer days. Long gravel road to the trailhead. Don't be fooled by the sign that says parked by the bridge. Keep going until you get to the parking lot (it will be pretty obvious it's a parking area). An all wheel drive car is recommended as it is bumpy to get there.

Beautiful views and a moderate to challenging hike. If you're up for a longer hike, this is one of the most popular "35 Peaks" of the Catskill 3500 if you continue on to summit Panther. Known to get muddy in places and very icy in the winter so definitely go prepared for the elements!

Beautiful hike about 4.6 miles with a lot to see along the way! Fire tower, old hotel ruins, an airplane crash site and views of the Hudson Valley. A very popular hike. Get there early to get a spot in the parking lot during peak season!

Artists Rock, Sunset Rock & Newman's Ledge is a great hike located near North/South Lake. Beautiful views and you can cool off with a dip at the lake after. Parking will cost $10 and you will need proof of rabies vaccination at the gate (your dog tag on the collar will work). Great hike that has three great view points that you can turn around at if you get tired. Some moderate scrambles but rewarding hike.
