Great view of NYC and a park for children to play at. There are often times pop up festivals during the weekends. The adjacent Pier B Park is a great spot to bring a picnic with your group.

PATH Train is the fastest way to get into Manhattan
Load up a Metro card ($2.75/ride) and take the PATH towards "33rd Street" which runs right through West Village & Chelsea or the PATH towards "World Trade Center" to reach the Financial District.

One of the great benefits of traveling to Jersey City is it's much more manageable to drive and park your car. You will find plenty of street parking (oftentimes free near neighborhoods or metered by shops) around Grove Street, Newport and Hoboken!
