Best things to see and do in the Golders Green area

Sightseeing

A must-see place to visit in the Golders Green area, the enchanted Hill Garden and Pergola, a hidden treasure in the middle of a woodland and only a short walk away from your accommodation. A truly magical place that was once owned by Lord Leverhulme, who built the Pergola as his legacy. Sadly since his death the Pergola has been losing its grandeur and today it resembles 'an ageing skeleton in the middle of a secret garden'. Spring and summer are magical times with spectacular display of colours of the vine other exotic plants that grow over the raised old walkway that runs through the beautiful garden below.

A casual 20- minute walk through Hampstead Heath, you will find Kenwood House, a former stately home where you can enjoy a coffee and light meal in the pleasant garden cafe and walk the peaceful gardens. You can also visit the house that was built in the 17th century and was residence for the Earls of Mansfield in the following centuries. It houses many historic artworks, including 63 Old Master paintings.

The Hampstead Observatory is just a 15 - 20 minute walk away. It was refurbished by members of the Hampstead Scientific Society and re-opened in September 2019. It is home to a stunning 6″ Cooke refracting telescope which offers stunning views of the skies above London. The facility is opened to the public every Friday and Saturday night (strictly weather permitting) during the observing season from mid-September through to mid-April (closed during Summer months).

Enjoy one of Londoners' best loved outdoor spaces. Walk through ancient woodlands and large meadows with some of the best views of the city from the famous Parliament Hill. If you like swimming outdoors, try out the ponds or just relax in one of the cafes.

In Golders Green you are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out. You will find all your favourite places such as the famous Sarang that serves some of the best Korean dishes. It's one of my favourite eateries near the station that gets packed with diners every evening. They always give great service in a very pleasant atmosphere.
