If you are more into gourmet cooking, then you better do your shopping here. This is round the corner in an old industrial building. Find the tall pipe and you find the shop.

Small historical coffee shop. Really tiny, space available also outside. Located by the bridge which was initially built in 1930s. That started the development of the area. Before the bridge Lauttasaari was accessible by a ferry and on the island you could move around in trams which were pulled by horses. The island was notorious during 1930s (Prohibition) when smugglers used the island as their base. The island was not yet part of Helsinki (it was attached in 1946).

Italian food in this smallish trattoria. My favourites are risottos but I have heard good things about their pizzas too.

Luonto

I recommend walking by the beach, you can almost walk around the island. There are a couple of "summer hut" areas where people have tiny summer huts. Those are a historical remnant and still very popular. If you walk to the west, you may spot quite a few different bird species especially in the spring and the summer and not just the typical city crow.

Conseils aux voyageurs

Se déplacer dans les environs

Metro is the quickest way to go to the center.

Metro station is where the local mall is. You can walk 650 meters or take a bus number 21. You can't buy tickets on the bus/train/metro/tram so download a mobile app "HSL" and buy a ticket that way. There is also a ticket vending machine at the station.

If you want to use a taxi

über works here fine. You can also download a mobile app "Taksi Helsinki" or "Taksini". You can book a taxi and also agree upon on a fixed price if you like. If you add your credit card and e-mail details, the charging is then done via app and you get the receipt in the e-mail. Much like über, just more expensive.
