Places to hike and get outside
Mount Tire'm is a small 1,060-foot mountain adjacent to Keoka Lake in Waterford, Maine. The Daniel Brown Trail offers access to the summit; its trailhead is on Plummer Hill Road just northwest of the village or "Flats" of Waterford. This short and rewarding hike (considered "moderate" in difficulty) climbs to the ledge top of Mount Tire'm with excellent views to the southeast over Bear Pond, Keoka and Long Lakes and Pleasant Mountain (Shawnee Peak Ski Resort.) You will find some cool "caves" at the top made from giant rocks.

The bar has an extensive selection of Oxbow beers as well as house-made sodas, spirits, cider and wine. They also offer Nordic skiing in the winter time... their extensive Nordic skiing trail system, formerly known as Carter’s XC Ski, was built by the local Carter family who operated the beloved ski center for decades. The Carters have allowed Oxbow to open up the trail network to guests. There is no cost to use the trails. Nordic skis, fat bikes and snowshoes are available to rent on site from the nonprofit organization Portland Gear Hub.
