A great local pub and restaurant again only 5-8 minutes walk from the cottage. The food is a mix of traditional West Yorkshire Fair and great, freshly made Italian produce from the outdoor kitchen. Lots of outdoor space too. The pub is also the current world record holder for the most extensive gin menu around. The cask beer is some of the best you'll find.

A really great, modern local Italian. 10 minutes from the front door. Superb, stone baked Pizzas are just part of an extensive menu. Great wine list too. This venue is bigger than most but booking is still recommended. Great for families and larger groups too.

A 30 minute walk from the cottage or a 5 minute drive. A huge selection of local produce. Some really local. The butchers are particularly good. The on sight cafe is probably the best breakfast in the area. Outdoor eating on their terrace also has great views.

A stylish bar formed from a former book shop and bottle shop. It comprises a stainless steel bar, high wooden tables and exposed brickwork and a mural of an old Saddleworth snow scene. It is owned by the licensees of the adjacent Hare and Hound pub. Bees adorn the ceiling and in addition to the cask ales there are eight key keg / keg fonts with Track, Cloudwater and Thornbridge often featured. Good selection of gins and vodkas and a carefully curated choice of UK and foreign bottles and cans.

Also known locally as 'The Top House'. Probably the nicest pub in the area. Really good beer and great food too. Dobcross is the most historic and prettiest of all Saddleworth's villages. Sitting outside this pub in the square in Summer is a must do. Bookings are a must for food in the evenings. The pub is about a 30 minute walk from the cottage, straight up the hill you can see from the front door.

These two reservoirs in Delph have some nice walking trails to try. It's a beautiful setting with the Upper and Lower reservoirs surrounded by some lovely Pennine scenery. You can start the walk from the Castleshaw Centre public car park on Waterworks Road, Delph. It's located at the southern tip of the lower reservoir. From here you can pick up paths along the lower reservoir before another footpath takes you around the upper reservoir. It makes for a nice circular walk with good views across the water for the duration of the route. To extend your walking in the area you can pick up the Pennine Bridleway and further explore Saddleworth Moor and Delph Heights. You could follow the long distance trail north and head to the nearby Dowry and Readycon Dean Reservoirs for example.

Discover the story of a Yorkshire community on the side of the Pennines The museum collection galleries tell the story of the people who have created Saddleworth’s landscape and character. The museum has something for all the family, is wheelchair friendly, and presents its’ collections, shop and facilities in a thoroughly modern way within the carefully restored fabric of a building dating back to 1862. Our canal-side community gallery provides additional space for the local community and is the scene of varied art exhibitions, presentations, museum fundraising events and learning activities. Saddleworth Museum and Gallery is a registered charity (no. 528225) and fully accredited museum (no. 191). We are primarily independently funded relying on visitor admissions, gallery income, fundraising events and donations.
