A VERY PRETTY WALK You can drive here in under 5 mins or walk along the coast by turning left out of the hut in around half an hour. Have some pub food and a drink under the sun near a little boatyard.

A great spot for refreshments after taking the ferry from Felixstowe. Also some good crabbing can be done on this side of the water!

Turn right out of hut and walk along the beach or road side depending on the type of walk you want/see. If following the beach you will go up and down several small flights of steps which go around the wonderful private gardens before the wide promonade gets you to the Cliff Gardens, fish pond etc... Look up/right and you will find the Cliff Café. It's only a 15ish minute walk so if you wanted longer one could carry on and reach many more cafés, kiosks and restaurants including Ruby's, also featured in this guidebook.

If you have children I suggest you drive to this more bustling part of Felixstowe. Great for children as huge play areas, sand pit, water fountains and several foodie vans. There is a Martello tower, these days used as a lookout by coast guards. Felixstowe has several towers, one of my favourites is a 20 minute walk from the hut (left) in the direction of Felixstowe ferry and marshes. 'Martellos', were little defensive forts built in the South East of England during the Napoleonic War between 1805 and 1808.

A magnificent building with tons of history. You can learn more about its amazing role during the second World War here: https://www.eadt.co.uk/lifestyle/heritage/bawdsey-manor-and-the-history-of-radar-8471088 It became a private school thereafter, I myself was fortunate enough to have a tour of the house and grounds in my 20's. I was blown away by the size of the Walled garden! Now the estate hosts school trips. You can see the Mansion on a clear day from the beach.

If you walk or drive past the Martello Towers and Golf Range you end up at the Felixstowe ferry and marshes. Here you can soak up the shack vibe, buy freshly caught fish, have some grub and even take the ferry boat across to Bawdsey where there is a lovely Café and both forest and beach walks to enjoy.
