Sightseeing

We are lucky to have Blenheim right on the doorstep, with a number of options for getting in. If you simply fancy a stroll through the grounds, you can get in through a gate near the bottom of our road (a). If you have tickets to tour the palace or the main gardens, you will need to enter through the main Blenheim entrance in Woodstock(b). • (a) Walk to the bottom of our road, cross over to the pavement and walk right, until you can see the village pub. Just before you reach the pub, you will see a road veer off to the left. Walk up this road until you reach a black gate. This is the entrance to the grounds. Once through here you can enjoy the beautiful grounds whilst viewing the palace from a distance. • (b) The Blenheim main gate is located in Woodstock. You can get here by yourself walking (30-40mins through the grounds), taking the 233 bus or driving in. If you opt for the bus, the bus stop is located at the bottom of our road. If you choose to drive in, it is only a 5 minute drive and you can either park in Woodstock for free (if there are spots available), or simply drive into Blenheim and pay for parking. Woodstock itself is a lovely village, with a number of pubs, cafes and sandwich shops to choose from. There is also a great ice cream shop that is worth combining with a visit to Blenheim.

We are just a 5 minute train journey or 25min bus journey from Oxford, where you can visit the university cites, explore The Oxford Castle, walk along the Thames, shop at the Westgate Centre or go for food & drink. For the latter, it’s always worth trying one of the bars or restaurants on the top floor of the Westgate Centre as you get a great view across the city. To get into Oxford, you can either get the S3 bus from the roundabout (walk to the bottom of the lane and take a right, following the main road for 25-30 mins until you get to the roundabout), take the train (walk to the bottom of the lane and turn left, walking for 25-30 mins) or drive in. If you’re driving, we’d recommend avoiding parking in town as it is so busy and expensive. Instead, you can use the park & rides. Our closest one is the Oxford Parkway Park & Ride.
