Don’t stand in the left on subway/metro escalators. Especially during rush hours. It’s reserved for those walking, usually trying to make a train on time.

Do your best to observe the parking signs, and if they confuse you, don’t park there. Getting towed, and paying $200 to get your car back for parking violations in busy areas of the city is NOT uncommon. When in doubt, use public transit.
