Kaffivagninn is my favorite place for lunch in town. It’s right on the harbor and caters to dock workers and locals as well as some tourists. It’s working class, old world and perfectly charming. Nothing fancy, but wonderful honest food and atmosphere.

Messinn is the best fish restaurant in Reykjavík.
“Snaps” is a great restaurant nearby that locals love as a hip place to eat and hang out. The food is good in a pretty typical modern “French Bistro” style with an Icelandic twist.

Excellent modern cuisine and stylish interior. A great place for slightly more upscale dining. The meat dishes are amazing. Very close to our apartment.

This centrally located food court has a bit of everything food-wise with several restaurants inside. A lovely place to try different types of food and drinks while hanging out with locals and tourists alike. A fun, social atmosphere!
