St. Mary's glacier is actually a permanent snowfield for which St. Mary's gets it's namesake. The views are beautiful and you can bring skis or a snowboard year-round. It's an easy enough hike for small children, but has many variations for the more intense hikers.

Clear Creek is the second most-rafted river in Colorado. The guides at Clear Creek rafting company do a great job providing a fun, safe experience for new and intermediate rafters.

You'll also notice a carbide lamp on top of the fireplace in the house. Miners filled it with carbide and when mixed with water it produces a flammable gas that can be lit. Old-school headlamps!

Colorado's outdoor areas are our pride and joy!
A famous graffiti artist once painted a boulder and it went VERY unappreciated. Some things are better left in cities.
- Leave no trace, take all trash with you.
- Don't bother the wildlife. Dogs on leash in wilderness areas.
- Stay on trail and don't stomp the flowers!
- Be aware of fire restrictions.
- Pack up camping food in bear bags at night.
- Urinate at least 100ft from the nearest water source -- or in a bathroom (yes, really).
