Springbrook Trout Farm is built into Springbrook Creek which runs year round. We are lucky that all the water to all our tanks and ponds is gravity fed plus we have several natural springs that have popped up all over our property. We offer several services to the public including field trips and educational tours for all sorts of groups, birthday parties, family reunions, picnic rental areas, weddings, or just a place to hang out and read a book. There is no charge to enter our farm. No dogs allowed. Call ahead if you would like to reserve a specific picnic area, otherwise it is first come first serve. Many parents bring their children simply to play in our play ground and have lunch. Sometimes we have animals for petting or taking selfies with like bunnies, peacocks, or ducks. You’ll also probably see a wide variety of wild birds perched in our trees such as blue heron, kingfisher, woodpecker, osprey, and more. Our U-fish gives parents an opportunity to teach their youngsters how to fish with an almost guaranteed catch to keep their attention and begin their love of fishing. Our water is clear so little eyes can see the fish. We have all the equipment needed and no fishing license is necessary. To make your experience even better, our staff clean all your fish for you! We charge by the length of each fish caught so there is no catch and release fishing allowed. Single, barb-less hooks are all that’s used to fish with. We make our own power-bait too! Feel free to bring your own pole if you would like as this is ideal for catching our big fish, but have your own tackle. We do not give out line or hooks to set up your own pole.

Renton's top cafe, Boon Boona only roasts African coffees, with an emphasis on top-quality beans and thoughtful sourcing. The owner, Efrem, knows a thing or two about African coffees: his family is from Eritrea, a small country that borders Ethiopia. In fact, Boon Boona’s Cafe is one of the only places in Seattle to find a traditional coffee ceremony—a hospitality ritual practiced across Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Sudan that involves pan-roasting the beans over a fire, grinding them with a mortar and pestle, and serving the strong, dark brew from a clay jebena pot. Efrem started Boon Boona as a way to connect the East African community with responsibly-sourced, high-quality beans for home roasting. Today, his Seattle and Renton cafes are inviting, art-filled spaces that honor the birthplace of coffee.
