A stunning sandy beach with dunes to climb and roll down, a shallow river to play in, caves to explore (including the magical holy well). The National Trust car park gets full quickly so best to arrive early. Short walk along an off road path to access the beach. Incredible place to sit and watch the sun set behind 'Gull Rocks'

One of our favourite beaches to take the children. South Coast so not so good for surfing but we love kayaking or swimming here. Car park across the road from the beach. Toilet and cafe close by. Small roads to access the beach but it is far less busy than north coast beaches.

A fascinating woodland walk only a short distance away. You can walk there if you fancy the adventure (go via Churchtown Meadows (head left not right to the main road) to walk downhill under the trees and then left after the large house. The woods are full of disused clay works, water wheels and derelict buildings. Great fun to explore! Great place to take a picnic and enjoy scrambling around the old buildings and clay driers (keep little ones close as there are a few steep drops). You can drive if you search maps online, there is a lay-by next to the entrance at the opposite end to the woods as you drive towards Nanpean.

Very, very busy but totally worth the visit. Parking can be almost non-existent during the peak season- the best way to visit is to catch the branch line train from St Erth. The views you get across Carbis Bay and St Ives is breath-taking every single time. The Tate gallery and Barbara Hepworth sculpture gardens are worth visiting. Watch the seagulls if you eat anything outdoors here- they are famous for stealing entire ice creams and pasties without hesitation!

Gorgeous seaside village. Can get busy but large car park. Our favourite time to go is the evening. Lovely places to eat including pop up outdoor restaurants down beside the water. Famous as a Poldark filming location. Small pebbly beach. Great for a sea swim!

Gorgeous and worth the 40 min+ drive to get there. Walk across/boat to St Michael's Mount (booking online advised) or simply enjoy the views of it. Great beach for playing, swimming, searching for sea glass. Little shops including cafes, fish and chip shop, ice cream shops, souvenir shops etc. We love spending evenings here.

Whilst the attraction itself isn't worth visiting, the views and surrounding coast and villages are! We often camp near here and there are so many little coves, beaches and hidden treasures to explore. If you search online, there are lots of little Holy Wells, springs, clootie trees, stone circles and standing stones which we are still yet to explore all of! Another evening favourite of ours. Great with kids or low mobility as the car park is overlooking the beach (steps access to beach). Toilets in car park Small sandy beach with shells, caves and great for paddling. Surfers do use this beach but mind the sharp rocks along the shore. Great for sunsets

Perranporth gets very busy in the summer. We recommend arriving early to park (queues often start forming around 8.30am on sunny days!) We recommend getting there early, parking then heading for breakfas before the beach. There is a Wetherspoons but also lots of lovely little cafes. Lovely seaside town full of shops, boating lake with boat hire and crazy golf and a 3 mile long beach! We used to live here and still have family there. Never gets boring and easy to spend an entire day there. Toilets and pub on the beach. Tidal swimming pool in the rock on the beach. Caves and rock pools to explore. Great for walking. 3 miles at low tide to the other end where you will see the remains of Wheal Vlow tin mine entrance- my great, great grandfather used to be the mining captain of! Great walk for adventurers either East to Holywell beach or West to St Agnes. A mile up the hill towards St Agnes is Perranporth Aerodrome which still has WWII bunkers and spitfire bays. Fun to explore!

Go and say hi to the seals scavenging for scraps from the fishing boats or go on a boat trip! Or grab a bucket and go crabbing. Beautiful clear water to paddle in. Sainsburys just up the hill so we tend to grab food for a picnic and take it down here on a warm evening.
