Food scene

The queue of coffee lovers outside each morning lets this place speak for itself. The twice baked Almond Croissants are next level too.

Teeny tiny (like most Leith eateries) but a great place to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine with a side of eggs.

A personal favourite. Open from morning to night for coffee, brunch, lunch, dinner, and a delicious glass of wine. Be there from lunch to bag a coveted outdoor table as the sun swings around for the afternoon.

Neighbourhoods

Stockbridge is a super buzzy neighbourhood, particularly at weekends. The busy Sunday market (right by the bridge) is brilliant for fresh produce, more coffee, and artisan sellers showcasing their crafts. Whether you go for the market, or to spend hours snapping Insta-worthy pics in the cobbled muse lanes, it's undeniably beautiful and well worth exploring. To get there, walk along the Water of Leith and follow the signs from The Shore, or hop on a bus. Don't forget to go right along to Dean Village too. Many more photo opportunities plus home to the Modern Art Gallery and Dean Gallery.

Edinburgh's seaside! A pretty, wide sandy beach with lots of water-sports, beach volleyball, and a mountain of brilliant eateries. Including Cieverino's, The Beachhouse Cafe, Miro's, and the Wee Green Van.

Buses are easy-peasy!

Download MOOVIT or Transport for Edinburgh app for bus-stop locators, routes, timetables. For a Single trip (£1.80) just ask the driver. Exact change is needed, or tap your debit/credit card or phone (Apple/Android Pay). For multiple trips, tap your card/phone each time you board; the tariff will cap each day to give the best rate for all your travel. For travel to the city walk to Summerfield Place, cross at the lights, find the bus stop to the right of Bijou. The 1 / 25 will get you to the city in around 15 mins. For bus routes and direction check the flag posts at bus stops.

Leith Walk and Easter Road

Walking into town takes around 30 minutes via Leith Walk. Or 40mins via East Road. Both are packed with more great places for eating, drinking, and shopping.

The Edinburgh weather is...special.

Edinburgh is known as 'the windy city'. Can you guess why yet?! August is notoriously changeable weather wise, so I highly recommend slathering on a good SPF, wearing layers, and taking a waterproof coat/jacket with you.
