XL is one of those restaurants that has become a reference in Lisbon, try the steaks or the soufflés, both great choices. Little expensive but very nice. Reservation is needed specially on week-ends

When it opened in 1829 this pastry shop was considered one of the most elegant in Europe. It has a bright mirrored interior and remains a wonderful place for some glazed pastries.

This House of Spikes is an architectural curiosity, faced with diamond-shaped stones. It is a 16th century palace and is one of the very few buildings that survived the 1755 earthquake.
Saint George's Castle can be seen from almost everywhere in the city. It served as a Moorish royal residence until Portugal's first king Afonso Henriques captured it on their way to the Holy Land.
