Wander along Rainbow Beach and discover a natural ‘art gallery’, where wind and rain constantly re-sculpt cliffs of coloured sands. Over thousands of years, iron-rich minerals have stained the sand with a complex array of yellow, brown and red hues, while pure white sand has been leached of all nutrients.
Coloured Sands

Over thousands of years, iron-rich minerals have stained the sand with a complex array of yellow, brown and red hues, while pure white sand has been leached of all nutrients.
When you reach Double Island Point you can splash in the calm lagoon at the base of Double Island Point headland and watch surfers at the base of the headland catching long, rolling waves. Then climb the steep track to the lighthouse and enjoy lunch while gazing at sweeping views over the ocean and coast to the north and south. Fully refreshed, you’ll be ready for the return journey.
Getting there: From the south end, drive 45km north along the Cooloola Beach drive to Double Island Point and the walk entrance.
From the north end, drive 10km south along the beach, then drive 1km inland on the Leisha track, turn left on the southern beach and drive a further 2km north to the walk entrance.

Guest review: Really enjoyed our lunch today. First visit to this place and certainly won't be our last. They have a different range of food on the menu but for the 3 of us they were absolutely scrumptious. Can easily lose a few hours sitting up on the deck enjoying the views.

Friendly family run business.
Review: We had a great coffee on our first day so returned for breakfast the next morning. We shared a big breakfast. Food was great and service was efficient and friendly. Loved the outside seating with no piped music. A very positive experience.

As one tourist explains:
You come for the Dolphin feeding and stay for the food. The dolphin feeding experience is amazing, wild river dolphins local to the area come once a day in the morning for a feed. The volunteers give a talk and then you line up to feed them. Great experience for kids and grown-ups alike. The food at the cafe is good, the service is fast and friendly. Not too expensive either.

When you combine this magical setting with our friendly, well trained horses and experienced guides, you get an unforgettable experience. We ride along an area of beach where no 4WD traffic is allowed, so it is peaceful and unspoilt. We hold the only permit in existence to ride along this section of beach.
We also offer full moon beach rides, half day country rides, a country full moon ride, which starts at midday and goes though into the evening, and even multi day rides. For experienced riders, guests can enjoy swimming in the ocean whilst riding bareback."

Beautiful stunning location and very good reasonable price!
Besides teaching how to stand up on a board the surf instructor gave me a perfect basic knowledge about the ocean and the waves with great passion and fundamental patience.
I will definitely come back again!

Families will enjoy this facility. BBQs, lots of great playground equipment, including a skate bowl. Easy access to the Rainbow Beach colourful stairs that take you down to the beach.
