2 stops south (far platform) to the Brighton central station or 1 stop north (nearest platform) to Falmer station for Sussex University. Check train times & prices at https://www.thetrainline.com/. It is usually much cheaper to buy a return ticket than 2 singles. If you need to go to London for the day then buy a '1 day travelcard' which allows you to travel to London and back & also use the London tube & buses as much as you want all day. Advance tickets for long journeys a usually cheaper the more days in advance that you buy them

Multiple buses into city centre (southbound) and Sussex university (northbound) from stops either side of the main Lewes Road. Check the details at the bus stops for specific bus numbers and routes. The 25/N25 run 24 hours between the centre and Sussex university.
