This little strip mall on the way into town has 5-6 eating establishments, including a bakery/coffee shop, a restaurant serving fish dishes, a sushi place, a pizza place, a hamburger place, and a restaurant offering traditional fare. Most have a fixed price menu del dia/daily special. There's frequently music on a weekend night. The restaurants are side by side with tables out front; you can choose from different restaurants, and sit outside on a long, covered patio. Its across the street from Parque Lineal, a loooong park that runs along the small river flowing through town.

Best grill in town. All cuts of meat that I've had have been excellent. My favorite is the punta de anca de cerdo - pork.
Well... the bacon wrapped filet is excellent too !

This is just one building in a complex. Nearby is the Municipal Theater which hosts free events multiple nights per week. Go look at posters to see whats happening. Classical guitar series? Live theatre? Chamber music? Tribute to Queen ?!

Wednesdays, and weekends the Park hosts a farmers market, and crafts vendors, and the first Saturday of every month a stage is set up and there's a free outdoor concert with seating. Often there's an informal gathering of local musicians playing during the day The government building and lots of little bars, restaurants and coffee shops surround the perimeter. Its a fun place to hang out, tomar un tinto o ron, and to enjoy watching the local afternoon/evening activity buzz.

It's a 30+ min uphill hike to the Cross with several vista points along the way, The great view of El Retiro from the top is your reward! You can get to the trailhead by walking 5 minute from my house.

This is a long park following the river that begins up near the cemetery and continues downstream for about a mile and a half. It's got sidewalks, good for short jog or walking, as well as multiple covered picnic areas with grills. Across the street, down where it ends, there's an excellent bakery, Mi Dulce Compania, owned and operated by a lovely paisa woman.
