Cant miss this amazing experience and you can be there in 35 minutes ready to explore the various walkways starting @ a 30min near the mountain house right through to a summit climb if you are up to it. The Pouakai Walk around the base of the mountain is being hailed as a good alternative to the Ruapehu Crossing. Check the conditions first as the weather can change quickly and safety is important.
