The best swimming pool, especially for families, in the capital area. This is my absolute favorite, with indoor slide and shallow pool for the younger kids. This is a short walk from here.

A good swimming pool, this is more popular with the kids in the summer as it's got better outdoor area than Ásvallalaug.

About 10-15 minute drive to the trail, this hike is suitable for families and is relatively short.
This is one of my favorite spots, one of the most beautiful lakes near the capital area. Parking space right next to the trail which is very accessible and suits all groups and families.
The story goes that in this lake there lived a mythical creature, Nykur which is kind of like a gray horse but it's hoofs are backwards. This creature was said to live in lakes but walk to land to try and seduce people to ride it's back and would then run to the lake.

Walk from our place to Ástjörn, a nature reserve, and then continue up the trail. On top of the mountain there is a periscope, besides the amazing view of course. Suitable for families.

This is such a beautiful, small park, popular for weddings and you will see why. It is surrounded by lava, thought to be the home of Elves and Hidden people.
