Entertainment & Activities

Velkommen to The Danish Villages! Elk Horn and Kimballton, Iowa are the two largest rural Danish settlements in the United States. Boasting an authentic windmill from Nørre Snede, the Museum of Danish America and a sculpture of The Little Mermaid, we invite you to visit our Denmark on the Prairie. Elk Horn is the host to the only authentic, operating Danish windmill in the United States. The mill was purchased from Norre Snede, Denmark, shipped and reconstructed in 1976 with the help of over 300 volunteers. In the 35+ years that the Danish Villages have enjoyed the mill, it has become one of the most popular and successful tourist attractions in Iowa. The 36th annual Tivoli Fest will take place Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29, 2016. This year's theme is "Generations of Love". The celebration includes the annual Tivoli Fest parade, Tour de Tivoli bike ride, authentic Danish foods, Official Iowa Craft Beer tent, multiple entertainment stages, fireworks and craft vendors.
