Located next to the public library, Old Mill Park has the remnants of the original lumber mill and open trolly car, amidst majestic redwood trees with a creek winding through the park. The playground is great for kids and they can also play creekside and climb in some of the redwood stumps!

The Dipsea run is the second oldest foot race in the U.S. The trail starts with over 600 stairs at the back side of Old Mill Park, then winds up along the side of Mt Tam, down in to Muir Woods and up/over to Stinson Beach. Seven miles of rigorous uphill, stairs and down steep grades but for the adventurous hiker, the views and scenery can't be beat. There are a few places to stop and catch an Uber or bus back, in Muir Woods and once at the beach.

Sightseeing

Sausalito was the original tourist attraction since it's the first town on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. A little touristy but still a locals hang out. Stroll down Bridgeway and take in the bay and views of SF, you can also catch the SF Ferry from there. Don't forget to hit Caledonia St for the better, local restaurants!

Regardless of the recent news, Playa is the newest hot spot in MV, chosen as one of the top 10 new 2016 restaurants by M. Bauer (food critic for SF Chronicle). Fun atmosphere, great drinks (have the Kill Bill) with a modern twist to Mexican food. The outdoor deck is huge with heat lamps and lots of sun (when it's shining!)
