Dogwalking and running round green spaces - walk down Prince's St and turn right at Braithwaite St to find the park at the end where Braithwaite St meets Clarence Gardens
If you go down Etherley Lane just past No 80 you get to a grassy area with a children's playground (go between the blue railings). Lovely to stroll around. It's a ten minute walk.

Sightseeing
Bishop Auckland's little castle is a lovely spot to visit. Although most of the inside is still closed for restoration (open next year) the chapel is open and the surrounding parkland is amazing.
