Quite big and open, but with really homely food. Lovely thin crust pizzas and fabulous spaghetti bolognese like only a mama could make. Early bird menu is very very cheap for Dublin.

I only eat Chinese food here. Once you taste it you will know why. This restaurant is stylish, white table cloth elegant, and ok a little on the expensive side but worth a splurge now and then. Plus they will look after you as if you were royalty. A real embassy belt star find * I recommend the Wall Ba Seafood or literally anything on the menu...

I recommend the Cafe which is open by day to the right of the restaurant proper on the corner of that block. It offers both a full sit down menu ranging from tea and cake to pasta etc...and is cheaper than the evening restaurant. It also offers an excellent selection of take away gourmet meals from their restaurant at reasonable prices, a huge selection of salads or curries, beef casserole, fish or lamb pie...2 with a bottle of wine for €25. The local secret is that they often sell their amazing fresh sandwiches for €2 after 4-5pm midweek so you can grab a couple and head to the park right beside it.

Pubs and bars

Whether you are arriving on a match day or coming back from the beach or slinking off to a cocktail bar we are fully stocked.
Also known as Bellamys this is a proper Dublin pub where the barmen have hipster facial hair and can tell you all about each craft beer, whiskey or the gins served in giant bowl glasses with ice tonic and fabulous garnishes. A steampunk blowout.

Unlike most rennovations it did not lose it character and can be best described as a modern twist on a classic theme. This is really popular on match days with a great buzz inside and out. A typical Irish pub, Slightly more spit and polish than sawdust. Lots of visitors go to watch their side play if they haven't got tickets because the roar of the Aviva is just next door. Pretty chill.

We all feel like being fancy from time to time and this is a great bar to check out. Located in the Intercontinental Hotel in Ballsbridge it is just 5-10 minutes walk depending on your footwear. I highly recommend a glass or two of yellow spot or a signature cocktail or four.

Technically not a full bar but a wine bar with an excellent selection of French wines for all palates. Plus really great simple French food as an accompaniment or as a meal. If you are having food in the evening, I recommend booking a table. If you are just coasting for early dinner and a glass or two of your favorite vintage I recommend to sit downstairs or outside and order the very reasonable and delicious Duck Confit if it is on the menu or a cheese and meat plate which comes with a basket of proper french baguette. Vive la France!

Places to go

If you would like to take a stroll around this unique neighborhood you will be surprised at what you find; an enormous horseshoe shaped seashore; a walk to the lighthouse at the mouth of the River Liffey, a gorgeous 18th century parkland donated to the public by a Lord of the British realm, fishing, cycling and open air markets.... the embassy belt is a revelation in itself.
Whether the tide is in or out you will be astonished at the natural beauty of this beach right in the middle of the city! It is agreat reminder that we Irish are often only one or two generations removed from the land. This is the setting for Leopold Blooms walks and musings in James Joyces classic, Ulysses. Take your own trip past the Martello tower into a stream of consciousness as the tide ebbs slowly back and forth. Looking back from the beach notice that the houses on the shore are all 2 story and just as they would have been when he wrote his tale. at tides out the further out you go you will find the city retreats and disappears but **be wary of channels of water that come in behind you and leave you stranded on sand spits**

Take a walk on the wild side of Sandymount; go to the end of the beach at Sandymount strand at Irishtown and turn up to the right for the walk up to Poolbeg lighthouse. Looking back at the city you will fel as if you are miles away. A good vigorous walk and lots of photo opportunities.

At the weekends there is an organic food and artisan market in the gorgeous herbert park. Buy a fresh Kofta kebab or mini doughnuts and excellent coffee. Stroll around the great selection of unique stalls and pick up some keepsakes. Afterwards find a bench beside some tulips and enjoy the view.

Take a tour of the stadium and pick up some mementos in the official merchandise store next to it. Better still get tickets for a game or a concert and see the stadium in full swing. You will hear the roar of the crowd if you leave your window open :)
