In more recent times it was converted to an elegant family home, maintaining the architectural integrity of the original building. In the proximities you will also see other ancient buildings that once were barns and houses for the workers.

Villa Lean is a beautiful, private villa nestled in the hills of Tuscany’s wine country above the ancient walled village of Lucca . The original farmhouse was previously owned by David Lean, the famous film director; who fell in love with the breathtaking views. The main house sleeps 8 people; it has four well-lit bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen and a first floor sitting room. The oldest part of the house, which dates back to the 12th century,adjoins the main house and sleeps 2 .

Situated on the first floor of Palazzo Pfanner, a charming baroque Palazzo and building of historical interest in the centre of the town of Lucca, the apartment recreates perfectly the atmosphere of the antique noble residences for visitors who wish to try this unique experience. The Tower was created in the late 1800s by an illustrious Englishman, Sir John Temple Leader, in one of the oldest and most important stone quarries belonging to the Medici family. From the same quarry were extracted many important works such as the columns of the Medici chapels, the steps of the Laurenziana library .. all just 5 km from the historic center of Florence.
