飯豊山・古巨樹の樽口　 冬は雪　春は山菜　夏は涼風　秋はきのこ

　樽口村には１０軒だけ家があります。山形県小国町の飯豊山のふもとです。この村はには川が流れていますが、村の家々は、川より上の山の斜面にあるため、いつも水不足でした。井戸を掘っても、茶色い水しか出てきません。 そこで、１００年ほど前、村に生えていた巨大な杉の木を切って、京都のお寺に売りました。そのお金で、村人たちは裏の山に隧道を掘ろうとしたのです。 ところが、工事に来た男たちは、最初の一日だけ工事をしたふりをして逃げて行ったのです。村人たちは、自分たちで隧道を掘って山の裏に流れる小川を引くことに成功しました。 それから１００年、この水は村の貴重な用水として使われています。 樽口村は、春は山桜、雪解け水で増水した川でのイワナ釣り。そして、山菜。ワラビ・ゼンマイ・ウドなど一般的なものだけでなく、 市場に出回らない貴重な山菜が楽しめます。 夏は、昼こそ暑いものの朝夕は涼しく、快適に過ごせます。ただ、注意が必要なのは、メジロとよばれる小さなアブ。刺されないように気を付けてください。 秋は、燃えるような紅葉。そして、たくさんの種類のきのこ。 冬は３メートルを越える雪。薪ストーブあります。
