Nestled in the hilled forest behind our home, the Vermont Tree Cabin (16' by 12', 190 sq ft) is a great, quiet place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. While lounging on the deck or hot tub, you will be able to enjoy the calm and serenity of the outdoors, but still have the comfort of home in our authentic cabin lodging. Built in 2004, the cabin was temporally used as a home for our family while we built our house. The cabin has been completely renovated with custom tile shower, rustic hickory floors, knotty pine walls/ceiling, a kitchen area including a sink, small refrigerator, microwave, waffle maker, coffee maker, HD TV, DVD player with small selection of movies, good cell service (ATT & Verizon), 500 gallon custom cedar hot tub, Wireless internet, gas grill, rock fire-pit, picnic table and a 250 sq. ft. deck that is built into and around oak trees. One of our greatest amenities of the cabin is the custom built, white cedar hot tub. Maintained at 100- 104F degrees, the hot tub is ready for your use all year round, 24 hours a day; all you need to do is slide the cover off, relax and enjoy. While relaxing in the tub, be sure to enjoy watching the flames of a fire from the fire pit right off the deck. Our other amenities and services are as follows: Bedding – One full size memory foam bed and one single cot that can be included upon request. Food – Coffee, tea, waffle mix (make your own), Vermont maple syrup and instant hot cereal included Parking – private driveway and parking area for cabin guests. The cabin is completely insulated and heated, so we invite you to enjoy it any time of the year. Maid service - We do not provide turn down service or housekeeping in the cabin during your visit, but will make adjustments upon request. As we are located in the North East Kingdom of Vermont, the area offers many activities and events for your enjoyment. Our area is well known for some of our Ski Mountains and Resorts including Burke Mountain and Jay Peak. There are many other outdoor activities including boating and paddling, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, etc. But don’t forget to check out some of Vermont’s well-known covered bridges, sugarhouses, breweries, and farms well. P.S. It’s great exercise walking from the parking area to the cabin. It’s only 150 feet away but a beautiful uphill stroll on a mix of well-lit paths and stairs.

  • Fantastic place to visit! Don't miss this beautiful treehouse! Andrew and Marilou are very responsive and helpful!

  • We had such a great time at this magical little hideaway! It was super romantic and cozy. We spent the first night hanging out in the amazing hot tub and swinging on the porch swing under the twinkle lights. We picked a drizzly weekend for our getaway, but it was easy to pop down to St. Johnsbury where we hit the bar and saw the sights. If you can tear yourself away from the cabin, the quirky Dog Chapel and Fairbanks Museum are must sees. Thank you, Andrew and Marilou, your place is stunning and your attention to detail is commendable! We'll be back for sure.

  • A unique and beautiful location.

    Teri2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderfully relaxing getaway at the Tree Cabin. The space was impeccably clean, the waffles were delicious, the bed was comfortable, and the soaking tub boasted great views of the setting sun. Andrew and Marilou were wonderful hosts- definitely would love to come back again in the future!

    Maggie2014-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful experience! The cabin was well designed and constructed and the extras like the hot tub and fire pit were thoroughly enjoyed. We would be happy to return again in the future.

Welcome and sunny's even more economical and closer to the outdoors experience. This is our tenting offer.
  • This place was super lovely, Melissa and Bob are incredibly welcoming and their home is quiet, clean, and cozy! I loved camping in their yard (stayed 1 week) with a pretty amazing night sky view and felt comfortable using the bathroom and kitchen as needed. Highly recommend their place if you're looking for a quick pit stop or a longer stay!

Recently renovated two floor apartment is decorated in a fun 1960's style with modern conveniences such as internet and cable TV. Easy walk to St. Johnsbury Academy, Fairbank's Museum, Athenaeum and downtown.
  • Stayed here for a wedding weekend and this was a great place! Very clean, new finishes and organized. Bathrooms are very spacious and nice. Within walking distance of shops and restaurants on the main street- easy to find and very informative directions were given to us. Would highly recommend!

  • This was an absolutely wonderful find! We stayed for two nights in July 2017 with our two children, ages 4 & 6. The photos online don't do this place justice AT ALL. We were immediately impressed with the spaciousness, decor, cleanliness and newly renovated feel to the entire apartment. Check-in was very easy and we didn't need to plan to meet anyone, which was nice since we only had an estimated arrival time. Mary suggested walking to the Fairbanks Museum to see the visiting butterfly tent exhibit out back, which the kids loved. There was also a playground across the street, where we took the kids both mornings after breakfast! Within a few blocks we found a nice little deli for lunch and a small used book store, as well. The purpose of our trip was to visit Santa's Village (about 45 minutes away) and we've always stayed near there in MH during past trips. With children, it is sooo much nicer to stay somewhere that has a separate bedroom and a kitchen, rather than being crammed into a small motel room. We truly couldn't be happier - this was a great value and we highly recommend this property!

    Katherine2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's place is WONDERFUL ! It's spotless and spacious ! The whole apartment has been renovated with all new everything ! The 1960's decor is awesome! The beds were very comfortable. There were lots of new windows in every room, all of the windows had shades, for privacy if needed. There were three bathrooms, with plenty of towels and even shampoo and soap for us to use, if we forgot ours~ so thoughtful ! I would definitely recommend Mary's place.

    Hollis2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! Not sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised at this find. The place was spotless and the 60's decor was fun and chic. Not much in St. Johnsbury but we used this as a hub for leave peeping. We would definitely stay here again. The bonus were the super soft towels, not the rough stuff you get in hotels!

    Tim2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this placed! St. Johnsbury is a beautiful Victorian village. We really enjoyed walking down Main Street and looking at all the great houses! We will be back.

  • I recommend you Mary's place if you are looking for a place at or near Saint Johnsbury. We stayed there for couple of nights and totally liked it. The apartment was clean and very nicely decorated. It is nearby to restaurants and grocery stores. Most of the town's attractions are at walking distance.

    Mumuksh2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's place is situated at the rear of a beautifully restored colonial house. The restoration of the apartment is stunning. The linens, window coverings and functional kitchen made our stay really enjoyable. Parking is easy, the lock box works well, never have to worry about losing your key while you're out and about! Really clean bedrooms and bathrooms. We also enjoyed the whimsy of the 60's decor. Would definitely stay again!!

    Charlotte2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fabulous - clean, cozy, bright and cool. The bedrooms are serene and each has its own full bathroom. The space has a ton of character without being kitschy or cluttered - just the right amount of personality. Lots of nice lighting and unexpected details. The full kitchen made it easy to prepare meals, though St. J has a growing number of great local eateries. Our hosts were helpful without being intrusive, and they clearly thought through everything that might improve our stay. We had a wonderful experience and are already planning our next stay!

  • I came to Saint Johnsbury for a wedding at the meditation center nearby. I only stayed for one night and was gone mostly, but this was exactly what I needed for my quick trip. Marysue was very polite and warm. She accommodated changes to the reservation several times and was there to greet me when I arrived. She had kindly stocked the fridge with eggs, milk, OJ, and bread. Overall, she was a lovely host and very easy to communicate with. The home is as pictured, so expect an older, more country style home (including both the pros (i.e., rustic vibes) and cons (i.e., moths, dust) that come with that). There was a back patio as well with a little table for seating. The location is a convenient minute walk or so from a main town road. The bathroom is tiny, but has everything you need. The bed itself was comfortable and perfect size for just one person, but two could definitely fit. There was also a daybed in the kitchen/nook area that another person could stay on.

    amanda2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed in Marysue's place for about a week in August while visiting friends in St. Johnsbury. We were very happy with the accommodations and Marysue couldn't have been a more gracious and helpful host. Very conveniently located, safe, comfortable, and a great price!

    Michael2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • I wish our stay at Marysue's cozy apartment could have been longer! With plenty of space to spread out and a quiet, restful vibe, this apartment was a lovely respite for a night. Marysue's place was easy to find, very welcoming, and stocked with breakfast options as well. Upon learning how dog-friendly Marysue and the St J area are, we plan on coming back with the rest of the family!

    Gabrielle2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Marysue was waiting for us when we arrived. She was very pleasant and available.

    Linda2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stopped for a quick overnight visit on our way to Quebec. Marysue was very accommodating and communicated quickly and clearly. The house is charming and comfortable and decorated creatively.

    Robin2017-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Marysue was available by phone and email for checkin. The location is convenient. The home is welcoming and full of charm.

There are several nice restaurants and a great Tap room within walking distance of our apartment. There are also many nice shops, (including our own!) on our block as well.
  • Notre séjour chez Lisa et son mari a été merveilleux. Un magnifique logement très bien équipé. Les lits étaient très confortables et nous avons très bien dormi. Je n'hésiterais pas à y retourner. Merci beaucoup à nos hôtes.

    Edith2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had planned a 2-night canoe-camping trip on the Connecticut River but, on the day of our departure, the weather forecast was not encouraging ... so we opted for Plan B and found Lisa's apartment still available on airbnb - what a find! The building and outside entrance were nondescript but, when we entered the living space, it felt like a photo-shoot set for some home decorating magazine. We could not believe our good fortune in having such an incredible "home" with all the conveniences for a rainy long weekend (though we still had one beautiful day on the water). Randall went out of his way to make sure we had everything needed (like overnight parking permits) and offered us late checkout on the last day since no one else was coming in. Our hosts own a large and very tasteful antiques, art, and crafts store downstairs, which we really enjoyed exploring - Lisa's artful eye was clearly evident here and explained why the apartment also had such creative appeal. If you're ever searching for a comfortable base to explore Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, look no further.

  • Lisa and Randal were excellent hosts, the apartment was perfect for our time spent there, almost 10 days. St Johnsbury was just a short, 15 minute drive to Barnet. All, in all, a perfect experience. Plenty of room and nicely furnished.

    Robert2016-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ron and Lisa were great hosts. Ron text us to see when we might be arriving that day. Lisa was there to show us the apartment when we arrived. It was exactly what we expected from the pictures. There was everything there to make us feel right at home, including a flickering battery candle night light in the bathroom. We did not want for anything. The space was very private and Ron and Lisa were just a phone call away if we did need them. I was a great experience to be so welcome especially with our little Jack Russell dog. Thank you for letting us stay in your space :) Wendie, John and Miles

  • This apartment is the best bang for buck I've ever seen. It really felt like we were settling into a home. Lisa and Randall even let us stay an extra day when some emergency car troubles came up. Couldn't be happier with our stay.

    Jake2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • a lovely little apartment in "bustling" downtown saint johnsbury. i know the area so it was hard to imagine exactly where it was. most important (ha!) it is just down the block from anthony's the best diner in the area. Lisa was very easy to communicate with and since her business is right downstairs, it was even easier to speak to her. highly recommended if you want to stay in a (ahem) vermont "urban" environment.

    brett2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cozy apartment in downtown St. Johnsbury. Very clean. Beautiful decor. Lisa and Randall were wonderful hosts. We plan on staying here again in the spring for our next trip to Dog Mountain!

  • We had a very good stay here, good in many senses, starting with simple and easy checkin. The host was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Our apartment was spacious and private, very neat, super clean and dead quiet. With lovely interior design. We loved it.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Mardi's house. She and her husband warmly welcomed us which is really nice to feel ourselves "at home" immediately. Her place is beautiful, newly renovated and decorated with fine taste, in a very quiet and lovely neighborhood. And it's only half an hour from the highest white mountains summits. Everything you need is provided like appliances or small equipments and even healthy food in the kitchen. We appreciated a lot ! All in all, a perfect getaway for our hectic lives :) My tip : go to the Kingdom Taproom for lunch/dinner. Their local cuisine tastes really good and the service was excellent!

  • Mardi's place is great! It is very clean, looks just like the pictures, and has everything you need. The location is great for walking and exploring St Johnsbury. Mardi is a gracious host and goes out of her way to meet your needs and provide delightful and healthy breakfast items. We stayed at the bnb for 5 nights, left for a few days for a side trip and then came back for 2 more nights. It was great knowing that we were returning to a comfortable space and excellent hosts. We enjoyed getting to know Don and Mardi and would definitely stay here again.

  • Saint Johnsbury, Vermont is a warm town. The people are as sweet as the maple candy and the nature wraps you in like a tight hug. From the moment we entered, Erin and I were greeted by the unmatched charm that only a small historic town can provide. This warmth was in no place more evident than Mardi & Don's house on the hill. The accommodations were incredible. You get your own kitchen with breakfast groceries in the fridge, a spacious living room with Netflix, and a cute little bedroom. But most of all, you get the warmth provided by the lovely home owners. Mardi & Don are sincerely kind people, and I'd recommend staying at their home to anyone who finds themselves in St. Jay.

  • Perfect place to stay. Well appointed, clean and comfortable. Great hosts and a great value. Mardi provided lots of information about the area which was nice. St. Johnsbury is a bit worn, but has some wonderful shops on Railroad St, and Main St is lovely. Good restaurants and Dog Mountain was wonderful. A great couple of days.

  • Mardi's place was better than we ever expected! Communication was excellent, the apartment was beautiful (comfortable and had everything we could need) and the place was close to everything St Johnsbury had to offer. Mardi met us as we arrived, made sure we had everything we needed, and was happy to chat or leave us to ourselves -- the perfect host. Would definitely recommend for anyone passing through St Johnsbury or looking to get out of the city for a while.

  • I really enjoyed my stay at this cozy place in this quite area. Melissa was out but Bob was really nice, offered me some great vegetables with rice in the evening. The room had a compfortable bed with a warm blanket and the house is very lovely. They also offered breakfast and I felt really at home. The dogs are very friendly. Communication was easy. A great place to stay!

  • Melissa and Bob's place is perfect for a night in Saint Johnsbury, VT. The address will bring you to the yellow garage, but the house is a short walk down a small hill which could be difficult for anybody who has walking issues. The bedroom is clean and shares the 2nd floor with a bathroom and the owners bedroom across the hall. A perfect value for a comfortable nights sleep.

  • Melissa is an awesome host and her place is a great place to stop for the night. The walking trails by the house are a great place to stretch your leg after a long day in the car or on the bike. Thanks again for allowing me to put my bike in the garage for the night, keeping it out of the rain sure made the start of the day much better.

  • Melissa and Bob were wonderful hosts, and their pets were just lovely. The listing was perfectly described, a quiet home off the road, but just minutes from everything. Breakfast was fruit and organic cereals, bars, coffee and tea. We saw the most spectacular rainbow we had ever seen from just off their balcony. Would recommend to anyone.

  • I felt so welcome at Melissa and Bob's place. Had plenty of privacy, but they were happy to chat with me next to the fire over a drink about their backgrounds and the area. They were flexible and accommodating with the reservation when my flight was delayed. Overall, so lovely! Would go back if I'm ever again in the area.

My place is in the center of the town ,2 minutes to I-91 & 93, all walking distance to academy, museum, art center, movie theater, restaurants and shops. Close to supermarket and hospital. 20 to 1 hour 20 minutes to Burke, Jay, Cannon, Stove, and Smuggler's Notch for skiing, biking, hiking in green and writes. There are 2 1/2 sleeping areas with a Queen in the front and a separated area in the rear with a double and a futon, ensuite and jetted tub (good for teens but not babies).

  • This was a beautiful place and Robin was very nice and accommodating. Helpful to note that the bathing option is a bathtub in the room. Beautiful fixture but best for a romantic getaway, not a place to stay with friends.

  • Very convenient location off off Route 2, close to St. Johnsbury and Joe's Pond. Exceptionally clean, quiet comfortable room accurately described in Airbnb. Excellent value. I regularly commute/work as a physician in the local hospital for 2-4 days a month and need to stay close by. Great place to stay while skiing/visiting the Northern Kingdom. Highly recommended.

  • Robin and Joe were warmly welcoming and delightful hosts. They shared with us the story of their loving restoration of the property. They gave us excellent pointers which helped us to more thoroughly explore the Kingdom. We would love to stay there again. We enjoyed Robin's continental breakfast. The banana bread was so tasty!

  • This is a beautiful and serene place, the perfect base for us to come back to after long, tiring days of exploring VT and NH. It's clear that the owners - Joe and Robin - take a lot of care to create a comfortable environment for their guests without taking away too much from the history of the house. Key features - beautiful home, spectacular views of the landscape on the property, the starry sky at night and warm, friendly owners. I would recommend this place for a romantic getaway - the other reviewers were right about that bathtub! The location is convenient if you want to explore NEK and NH. Thank you Joe and Robin, such a pleasure to meet you.

  • Magnificent stay. Starting with the excellent communication with Robin who is very precise and gentle. Everything about the experience was superb. The farm house is a pure gem, every hour of the day. Time was metaphorically frozen and we loved the whole vibe.

Hidden Gem, a custom crafted loft apartment adjoining our house with its own entrance. Attention to detail makes this a place you'll never want to leave. Comfortable & elegant. Full kitchen. Luxurious king bed. Separate bedroom with queen bed.
Designed by Matt and I, the apt. is elegant, comfortable, cozy and functional. Be prepared to never want to leave, it's that sweet up on our hill. And did I mention that my husband Matthew has spent his life as a designer of fine furniture & architecture, so the attention to detail reveals itself around every corner.
Breathe the fresh air in our neighborhood of fields, forests, and farms. Wildlife right out the door: deer, wild turkeys, fox and birds galore. Head out and hike in the Green Mountains or the White Mountains. Swim in our local watering hole or at beautiful nearby Harvey's Lake. Bring your canoe or kayak and paddle The Passumpsic River which flows into the Connecticut River right in the valley. Drive to Willoughby, Crystal, or Caspian Lakes. Bike our local LVRT rail trail, or Kingdom Trails (25-minute drive to E. Burke) or head (only one hour) north to Newport, Vt. and bike on the biking trail into Canada. Bring your passport, you are that close! Matt and I enjoy cooking and growing our own food. There is a bounty of locally grown food available at the farmer's markets and nearby Joe's Brook Farm stand. Just over the hill is Karme-Choling Buddist Meditation Center. Only seven miles to St. Johnsbury, home of Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium, The Athenaeum, Catamount Arts Center and St. Johnsbury Academy. Share a bite at local restaurants in St. Johnsbury and Danville. Easy driving distance to Burke Mt. Ski Resort, or the Town of Greensboro, home to Jasper Hill Cheese, Barr Hill Distillery, and Hill Farmstead Brewery.
  • Cindy is a great host! Communication was smooth and we found everything as described! Highly recommendable!

  • We had such a memorable stay at Cindy and Matt's Hidden Gem. The location is serene, quiet, and breathtakingly beautiful. The rental was clean, spacious, beautifully curated, and appointed with Matt and Cindy's tasteful pieces. There is warmth in this space and a natural beauty to what they have built here. We were greeted with some vegetables from the Garden, a warm hello from our hosts and their loving dog Rudi and cuddly cat, Hank. We settled in well and over the course of the week took in many of the sights with our children who delighted in the outings (berry picking, lake swimming, cheese tours, maple syrup tastings) as much as they enjoyed picnicking in the grass with Rudi or making a fire in the pit on a cool evening. The kitchen is well outfitted for meals at home, which we did several times, or Cindy and Matt can steer you towards good fare in the nearby towns. The selection in St.Johnsbury is not extensive. We were astonished at how much we could do in the area if desired but were content to enjoy our space for the week too. Thank you for the extraordinary stay. We will happily return! • We had a wonderful weekend in Saint Johnsbury with Paula, Cindy's sister. She made us feel very welcome and had everything we needed for our stay. The house is beautiful and the property is peaceful and gorgeous. We enjoyed delicious vegetables from their garden and had a bonfire to end each night. It was the perfect weekend getaway!! Thank you for your hospitality!

  • Hidden Gem is a true home away from home. The apartment is spacious and beautifully decorated -- all topped off by a breath-taking view of the mountains right outside your windows. Matt and Cindy were the perfect hosts from start to finish, truly going the extra mile to make our stay as seamless as possible.

    Samantha2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Driving up Kitchell Hill Road is a quintessential Vermont experience: lush, green, the requisite farm, gorgeous vistas. But driving up Matt & Cindy's driveway is unlike ANY other experience: a sharp right, a steep hill, and then you enter paradise. Lush lawns, gardens, and beautiful trees and birds everywhere. We felt like we'd escaped to another planet. Heaven. And the apartment has everything you need for cooking, relaxing, unwinding. Such harmonious colors and decorations, simply a treasure.

    Lynn2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Paula met me with a welcoming hug and the feeling lasted the remainder of my stay. The apartment is wonderful. It is warm and welcoming and very well appointed. There were groceries in the refrigerator that were much appreciated. That attention to detail was reflected in everything. The apartment was clean and decorated in a comfortable and homey manner. It was a wonderful place to be able to spend time with my son. We both felt very much at home. The property is breathtaking and perfect place to relax, reflect and wander. My son and I had a campfire one night and made s'mores with the fixings that Paula had provided. This is truly a wonderful place to stay

  • Hidden Gem is an excellent name for this Airbnb spot. It is located in a beautiful setting with incredible views overlooking the Passumpsic River valley. As an example of how beautiful the location is, one rainy day we spotted a flock of wild turkeys grazing through their yard. The apartment is very clean and nicely decorated with all of the amenities we needed, along with wonderful views of the property and surrounding countryside. Paula, Rudy the dog, and Hank the cat greeted us on our arrival. Paula was a gracious host throughout our stay. She provided some great suggestions for checking out local markets and autumn festivals. We didn't need to buy apples because we could pick our own from their trees; they were gems the size of softballs with amazing taste! We met Matt and Cindy midway during our stay after they arrived from their own trip, and we really enjoyed our conversations with them and getting helpful advice for excursions throughout the Northeast Kingdom.

  • Jennifer's place was perfect for a forest getaway! The apartment was clean and had everything we needed, and Jennifer and Shawn were great hosts. They provided recommendations and were available if we needed them. The property was beautiful and there were plenty of things to do anywhere from a 10 min drive to a 90 minute drive away. As a warning, anyone over 5ft will have to bend down to walk the hallway to the bed nook. Great place, would definitely stay again.

  • Great location to stay if you're in the area for outdoor activities at Burke Mountain or Kingdom Trails. Hosts are friendly and thoughtful, and the space has plenty of extra little touches. Tall folks will need to watch their head in the entrance and sleeping areas, but will have no problem in the main hangout room, kitchen, and bathroom. We'd stay again!

  • Amy was a great host and the house was just as described. It's an older house, with so much charm. The location was perfect for the wedding we attended nearby. I had a few miscellaneous questions during our first day there and Amy always quickly responded and was available for assistance. The view from the house is absolutely amazing! We spend most of our time hanging in the kitchen listening to records while the kids played. Would love to visit in the summer with more daylight in the evening.

  • The house was perfect! We had our three young adult children and two friends stay with us. Spacious and spectacular views. We were visiting for a family wedding and had a few other family members over for dinner. Plenty of room for several cooks...the kitchen was great! Our friends are from Texas and this was their first time in VT. The house was the perfect example of VT living.

  • Amy was super responsive and available, and her home is huge, and lovely. We had the most relaxing weekend. Everyone had their own space (and own bathroom!). We loved being able to bring our dogs, and the place was super baby-friendly. We plopped my nine month old in the grass, cooked, sat on the deck and looked at mountains, and visited Franconia Notch. Great Spot!

  • Amy was a wonderful host. Although I didn't see her, we kept in constant contact from the moment the home was booked till the second I arrived. The home is beautiful and very cozy. Plenty of books and games to play. The property is huge! We went during New Years weekend and thankfully it snowed. We were able to go snowboarding and the ski resort was so close. I definitely recommend this home!

    Stephanie2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect. Really, I feel like I'm gushing a little, but we had the best time. I feel like the whole point of AirBnb is to live in a home and feel like a local... and this more than provided. Amy couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. She communicated everything up front and got back to me very quickly if I had any questions both beforehand and during our stay. The home is gorgeous- even better than the pictures (which are already great). It was clean, and they put a lot of time making us feel like we really were at home. The land the home sits on is amazing- you feel like you're on a nature reserve. We had so much space inside and out that everyone could be together without being on top of each other. The home is also located near a lot of quintessential "New England" things (thought it's really accessible from the highway too so we didn't have to drive forever to get to it). We really got to experience the area- museums, lakes, clam shacks, farmer's markets, and ice cream shops. Downtown St. Johnsbury is so close, and we went there often, to the little shops and the restaurants. I could also see how this would be a great place in the winter too, since it's so close to ski resorts. We took walks with the kids and read books on the decks (yes, there are two porches). It was perfect and serene. If the timing works out next year, we will definitely be back!

    Heather2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly host couple that went way beyond my expectations. Everything from the very warm greeting to making their kitchen fully available. Both the room and attached bathroom were very nice. Both nights I arrived after dark so it wasn't until after the last night that I figured out one of the exterior storm windows facing the street was still open. Given that I am a light sleeper, if I had closed it, I'm sure it would have reduced the nearby traffic noise. I would have no hesitation in staying there again.

  • We had a lovely long weekend at Liz and Jasons cosy waterfront lake house. It's even more beautiful than the photos show. A great place with a lot of privacy, a lot of space to explore, all very clean and cosy. The house has everything needed, from a well equipped kitchen to spacious bedrooms, outdoor furniture to chill, and the opportunity to jump in the lake right after waking up. The house itself and it's garden are great, but on top of that there is a lovely shared space that has canoes, kayaks, a little dock (great for morning coffee), tennis court, basketball court etc. There wasn't enough time in the day to enjoy it all. The ideal air bnb experience.

Our house is a lovely timber frame, mountain-style home located in the NEK of Vermont with an amazing view of the White Mountains of NH. You will find that we are conveniently located: 15 minutes to Lyndonville, St. Johnsbury, and Burke Mtn. Rail trails (running, walking, biking), VAST trails (snowmobiling), and the Kingdom Trails (mountain biking) are all nearby. You will have a private upstairs bedroom and bathroom and are welcomed to use the kitchen, screened-in porch, and deck areas.
You will drive through classic Vermont farmland on the way to our place, rolling hills and cows are plentiful. Our house is up on a hill facing southeast toward the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The house itself is both airy (vaulted ceilings) and warm (lots of natural wood everywhere) in character and you will feel like you have found the perfect mountain get-away.
Very nice place, one of the best visit by Air B&B. Cindy and Graham were very welcoming, super nice people. They made sure we did not lack anything. For the place, the view is stunning, the room very confortable, we felt just like home. We recommand this place big time.

Nous avons été merveilleusement accueillis. Un délicieux petit déjeuner à base de Bagels et fruits frais nous a été servi. Cindy est de très bons conseils!! Je recommande vivement!

  • We had a terrific time at the Shawlet! We arrived at night after spending all day in the White Mountains of NH, and the great nearby location made it a painless, short drive after such a long day of hiking. The hosts were incredible, and without a doubt the best Airbnb experience I have ever had. After entering the very well-appointed home and a pleasant chat, they took us to a lovely bedroom of timber, high ceilings, and plenty of space. They even graciously called to confirm that their favourite restaurant was open for us to sate our starvation. After a short trip, we came back to a star-filled sky, luxuriously comfortable beds, and an incredibly satisfying shower. The next morning, we enjoyed coffee and bagels on the screen porch, with panoramic views of the mountains and miles of surrounding countryside. The hosts provided maps and guides for us to plan our day in the area, and even offered a nearby hiking trail to mobilize our tired legs. Hospitality like this is incredibly rare, and I highly recommend booking the Shawlet as soon as you are able!

  • We had an amazing stay at Cindy and Graham's place on Kirby Mountain. We arrived late on Friday, and were welcomed to a beautiful house and the most comfortable bed ever. The house is situated on a hill, has a great view on the White Mountains, has its own hiking trail on the property, and is just very comfortable and quiet. Cindy and Graham gave us great and detailed advice on where to go hiking, which was very helpful for city-folks like us. Would definitely recommend staying here. Thanks again for having us!

  • Loft and den accommodations in a beautiful area of Vermont. Especially nice if you really want to relax and/or take part in outdoor activities. Well equipped for couples with or without kids.

  • The lakeside cabin was the ideal place for an idyllic fall getaway in the middle of one of the most beautiful parts of Vermont. It was everything we were looking for - secluded enough to spend time relaxing in front of the fire and canoeing in the lake in total peace and quiet, but close enough to great restaurants and antiques in St. Johnsbury and scenic drives (Mt. Burke, Burtt's Orchard in Cabot, and not too far to drive up from Woodstock). We spent the weekend as a couple but the cabin would be fantastic for a group of 4-6 friends or a family in fall or summer. Mary's personal touches (directions, a note to greet us, fall decorations, tips on local points of interest) made us feel right at home, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook and make coffee. The Northeast Kingdom is definitely worth a trip, and we can't recommend this cabin enough!

Mid-way between St. Johnsbury, VT and Littleton, NH, Shadow Lake is close to mountain adventures, hiking, climbing, biking, and accessible, as well, for fishing, swimming and canoeing. Loons, osprey, bald eagles and beaver add to the quiet drama of the undeveloped shoreline across the lake, and our stone-walled, corner garden invites you to relax by the fire pit.
Our simple Bee-at-Ease cottage is furnished family style. The blankets, pillows, bedspreads, sheets, pillow cases, towels and wash cloths are those we put out for visiting family and friends in our home. This recently updated cottage has a full kitchen, dining room, living room, sun room, bedroom and full bath on the first floor. The upstairs bedroom includes a convenient half bath/powder room. The sun room opens onto small decks at either end and there's room for two vehicles in the private driveway. You might relax in the woodsy corner garden - think moss-covered stone walls - with a fire pit and well-stocked woodshed.
Bee-at-Ease sits by a gravel road in sparsely populated Concord Corner, historically, the bustling Concord center where the first normal school in the United States was established in 1823. Robert Frost lived just up the road in the 1940's. Now, it's a hilly jog or stroll where local families commute to work and come home to fish, swim and boat at Shadow Lake. Mount Washington and Franconia Notch create breath-taking photo backdrops any time of the day.

My place is cozy and romantic, remote and far from the rat race. We are out the door close to four wheeling trails, snow machine trails, Mountain biking. You’ll love my place because of Hobbit hole, gardens, panoramic view of NH mountains. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families. I provide some food, including local eggs and maple syrup, butter and pancake mix, fruit, etc... and provide more for each added guest. Clean bedding, towels, basics provided.
The house is a cozy 3 bedroom cabin, partly finished with barn board and beams that were pulled from the old barn on property. The main living space has a cathedral ceiling with old beams, hand hewed. There is a sitting room off the master bedroom that gets sun and has a hammock. there is also a fold-out couch and a futon There is a second bedroom also on the first floor with a queen size bed. The loft has 3 twin beds.

  • Kenneth was super kind and responsive! The home is even better in person than it is in photos. Clean, cozy, quiet, peaceful space that I would really love to come back to and spend some more time at.

  • We had a wonderful spring week at Kenneth's place. The photos simply don't do it justice. The place is homey, well stocked, and has everything you need. The wood stove and/or the furnace will ensure you're never cold, and the sun room off the main bedroom is an excellent place to sit and read and take in the mountain views which are simply stunning. Kenneth's incredibly generous breakfast supplies will keep you fed for days. Our only tip for folks visiting in the spring months is bring an extra pair of all boots for 'mud season', which begins as the snows start to melt. I hope to make it back sometime to see the Hobbit's garden in full swing!

  • Beautiful views. Nice quiet spot. Cabin is cute and rustic, but has all the necessary modern conveniences. GREAT price! Quite a bit to do in the area, especially St Johnsbury.

  • If you are looking for a cozy, quiet weekend in secluded, scenic Vermont, this is the place for you! It's the perfect, no frills cabin with gorgeous views. The location is VERY remote. Our dog loved running around in the spacious backyard. Kenneth was very easy to communicate with and a great host.

  • Kenneth's place was as he described - cozy and definitely far from the rat race. We joked on our third and final day that we had seen one vehicle drive by per day. Great views of NH mountains. Only wish Mother Nature had cooperated and left us more snow but then again, it's hard to complain of a 50 degree day in February. Kitchen was well stocked with food staples (condiments in the fridge, teas and hot cocoa in cupboards) and utensils, pots/pans to cook any meal. We kept the woodstove going - part of the charm. We had to pry our 6 year old out of the indoor hammock on our last day.
