We had family staying recently and decided to make the one hour road trip to visit King John's Castle.... just one word 'AMAZING" definitely worth a visit.

We love the restored garden here at Portumna Castle, not to mind the whole history of the 'big house'. Worth a visit especially if combined with a visit to the Workhouse in Portumna.

Lots of wild deer to be seen - I think about 3 different species. Many different walks of varying lengths.... dogs and bikes permitted.

Reputedly the oldest mountain range in the world! No idea who decides these things. There are wonderful walks to suit all grades throughout the area. We can put you in touch with local guides.
