Rye is one of the Cinque Ports, brimming with history. A visit to St Mary's Church is recommended, where you can climb the bell tower for fabulous views over Rye and the surrounding area. The Mermaid Inn is one of the oldest properties, with a beautiful inglenook firplace in the bar area. Great for a coffe or a pint, and a good look around.

Great Dixter is house in Northiam, built by Edwin Lutyens in 1910. it was owned by the Lloyd family, and the gardens were designed and planted by Christopher Lloyd. Beautiful!!

Visit the Old Town of hastings, where you can take the East Hill Funicular up to the Hastings Country Park, where there are fantastic views of the sea & the coastline. The Shipwreck & Fisherman Museums are worth a visit & the entrance is free. Plentyof antique shops, restaurants, pubs & shops to keep tou busy. You will find the Jerwood Gallery on The Stade.

The Shipwreck & Fisherman Museums are worth a visit & the entrance is free. Plentyof antique shops, restaurants, pubs & shops to keep tou busy. You will find the Jerwood Gallery on The Stade.
Camber Sands has 2 miles of shoreline with picturesque sand dunes, lifeguards, parking & water sports. It is the only sand dune system in East Sussex , & is east of the River Rother at Rye Bay stretching 3 miles beyond the Kent border, where shingle & pebbles take over.

Camber Sands has 2 miles of shoreline with picturesque sand dunes, lifeguards, parking & water sports. It is the only sand dune system in East Sussex , & is east of the River Rother at Rye Bay stretching 3 miles beyond the Kent border, where shingle & pebbles take over.
The Kent & East Sussex Railway steam train runs from Tenterden to Bodiam. One of the main stops is Northiam, which is a mile away from Conifers. You could take the train from Northiam to Bodiam Castle, and spend a couple of hours there, then do the return journey on the River Cruise boat back to Bodiam Boat Station. You can then walk back along the field path ( 6 minutes) to retrieve you car from Northiam Station. At Bodiam Boat Station , you could have lunch at The Lime Wharf Cafe or The White Hart pub.

Winchelsea is well worth a visit. This picturesque town was once a major hub for the medieval wine trade, and a town of national importance. A rare example of a settlement laid out on a grid pattern, offering vistas along wide, straight streets.. It's medieval stone vaulted cellars are famous, with regular guided tours throughout the year. The Visit St Thomas's Church where you will see the most beautiful stained glass windows. ( and Spike Milligans famous grave stone). The impressive New Inn pub opposite will provide you with drinks & a tasty lunch. A very cosy pub, especially in winter.................... Do stop by Winchelsea beach for a good blast of fresh air.

Alexandra Park is a public park in Hastings. It occupies 109 acres, with its linear area stretching from the town centre out to residential areas. You can choose short or long walks through the vastly different areas, including reservoirs & lakes with wonderful wildlife, rose gardens, beautiful wooded areas, Cafe with play parks, tennis courts & the famous miniature railway. this wonderful park reminds me of Central Park in New York, but on a Hastings scale. I have happy childhood memories of spending whole summers in this park, where my Grandparents lived at the top most end.
