Think of a stereotypical English pub and the Victoria is it but filled with locals, the original bar clock dated 1867, and original bar mirrors with silver peeling of the back of the mirrors. Excellent Fish & Chips and meat pies. If you are lucky enough and the library bar is not booked go upstairs and sit there

3 blocks from my flat and even in the midst of summer you can find a secluded spot. My personal favourite for picnics are the Italian Fountains at Lancaster gate (10-15min walk). Also good for jogging, open water swimming in the summer if you can brave the water temperature. Includes the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain. Every summer the winner of an international architecture competition gets to build their structure next to the Serpentine Gallery
