MAke sure you go there, perhaps the most scenic village all around the area. Boats connections from Rio, or otherwise, if weather is not good, train to LA Spezia, then P bus line to Portovenere (about 40 min).

A nice little town on the easter side of the gulf of la spezia, if you have enough days to spend, that is one more place you should not miss.
