Superb pub food in a lovely old country pub and an easy walk through the woods from the house. The walk takes about an hour or so. You could arrange a taxi back!

What so we do on a rainy day? We visit Whitstable and go to the fish market. After that we pop to the Cheese Box for cheese and stop in at the little independent shops and galleries.

Chilham makes an interesting afternoon outing. The village centre is very pretty and the castle is sometimes open. This year the castle is Shakespeare with The Globe open air theatre summer season

This is a must for a day out if you know what a diorama is. The Powell Cotton family were early Victorian explorers who travelled extensively in Africa and the museum displays are fantastic.

A visit to the brewery is a great way to spend an afternoon, or better still book a guided tour followed by dinner and beer tasting! Delicious beer brewed from Kentish hops.

This is simply amazing. Underneath a house in an ordinary street in Margate lies a Victorian grotto completely lined with local shells. It is a mystery how and why it was constructed.

The cinema and theatre is only ten mins drive from the house and is a great place for entertainment if you don't want to go into town. Has a good programme, especially for children at Christmas.

This is a quirky old cinema which is privately owned and operated. There is plenty of nearby parking, free after 6pm. Tickets are cheap and it is like going back in time.
