If you dont play golf, there is also a walk from the front of the property around the estuary or it’s great on a bike if you have one.
However if you do play there is a golf scramble every Thursday and Saturday at 10am everyone is welcome and you will be placed into groups. There’s a nice bar afterwards in the club room with loads of friendly locals.

A nice walk from Daphne Road
If you are a walker this is a lovely walk (if it hasnt been raining!) there is a tunnel with glow worms along the way.

Tairua beach speaks for itself but we also love Te Karo Bay its a 10 minute drive and great for kids- it’s also dog friendly.

If you have small kids with you and are looking for something different the Mill Creek bird park is less than 10 minutes to Whitianga. (Around a 30 minute drive from the beach). It not only has birds that you feed (or nest in your hair) but there are wallaby's, goats, donkeys etc.

All the locals go here - great for most times of the day and if you like art there is a door at the back to the gallery. If you are in Tairua in the holiday season it might pay to book.

We have had lovely meals here with generous portions. During the day it can be a little chaotic but it is in a great position if you get a good seat to people watch.

You will find all of the essentials here and although hours fluctuate from winter to summer it is usually open from 7-6pm 7 days a week. It’s an easy walk here from the bach. We have left many bags in the house for guests but unfortunately they keep being taken so don’t forget your own!
