The 500 meter Frankston Pier is a local landmark of the suburb. Originally built in 1857, it has been both extended as well as repaired a number of times over the years. There is an artificial reef within casting distance of the pier that is home to a wide variety of fish. Near Frankston Pier is the arched pedestrian bridge over the mouth of Kananook Creek and a boardwalk that meanders along the beach. Public boat berthing is available on Frankston Pier for up to 48 hours at a time

Iconic Frankston landmark. Sight Line nautical sculpture. Built in 1857, and extended in 1864, the Frankston Pier has long been the focal point of the beachfront as it juts out into Port Phillip Bay. Considering its local significance, both historically and emotionally, any artwork built into its form had to be done with intelligence, finesse and great sensitivity. The successful result has been Sight Line by Louise Lavarack. This interactive and engaging installation features a ‘kinetic lighting display and responds via acoustic sensors to the movement of the water beneath the pier, and wind vanes that sensitivity adjust to shifts in wind direction’ (Louise Lavarack, 2008).

Beautiful Frankston Beach Pier. Not a surf beach, but very safe and family friendly. Plenty of places to eat - ice creamery, fish & chips, ect. Frankston Beach is surrounded by the sculpture park, walking tracks, yacht club, information centre etc

This is a beautiful pier an easy walk along the beach from Footsteps and you can buy fish and chips from the kiosk at the beginning of the pier and watch people fishing and swimming.
