This is an 86 mile rail to trail that is great for hiking and biking beginning here in Weiser and goes North. The website is weiserrivertrail.org

Hiking and biking without the crowds. It does involve a bit of a drive to get there, but it's worth it. Bring your gravel bikes! The trail runs from Weiser to New Meadows. 84 miles of mostly just you and the scenery.

For a break from the crowds in Boise, you can get on the Weiser River Trail at many trailheads along US 95 north of I-84. It does involve some driving (up to two hours each way), but it's worth it. One of our favorites rides is Midvale to Cambridge and back, which is about an 18 mile round-trip. At 85 miles total, it's the longest Rails-To-Trails trail out there, and it is unpaved.

The Weiser River National Recreation Trail is a feast of desert canyons, evergreen forests and alpine meadows, following the former right-of-way of a Union Pacific Railroad line between Tamarack and the town of Weiser. Other highlights of the trail include 62 historic rail trestles and wildlife such as deer, waterfowl, quail, turkeys, herons and eagles. You may even encounter coyotes, bears or a mountain lion. If you like to fish, bring a pole and drop a line for rainbow trout in the Weiser River, which the trail follows for pretty much all of its route.
