Hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing and swimming are the main tourist attractions at the 5,000-acre Yankee Springs State Recreation Area that boasts nine lakes, including Gun Lake. Rent a boat or personal watercraft and get on the water or drop in a line from one of the fishing piers. Overnight accommodations include a modern campground or rustic camping -- including a bike and equestrian camp.
