étkezde...means a cheap hot food place for workers You can do a web search and find them in various parts of the city. Different ones will vary of course. Most clients are My favourite Hungarian, so if you want to eat what HUngarians eat, these are good places to go. But of courses common plates include breaded chicken or breaded pork which might not appeal much. Most will have mashed potato if you are there before it runs out. (Im a fan !) (Its normally Eastern Europe mashed potato so things like adding butter, cream etc are still common. Tasty but you might 'keel over' at 65 if you ate it every day !) Workers start early (market opens at 6am !) so they eat early. If you turn up at 14:00 they might only have left what no one else wanted !...so aim to go between 12:00 and 13:00. My favourite Etkezde was at 29. Lovely Hungarian dishes, home made, different home made soups every day, cheap, (plum pie, yum) and a queue....but it seems to be closed now. Perhaps it was too cheap. There is another decent one in Oktober 6 street if in the area of the Basilika. There is also a Pad Thai in that same area (same street perhaps)
