Lipa Cave is a great attraction for families. A miniature train takes visitors through countryside full of wild fig and pomegranate trees to the cave entrance. From there, there’s a guided tour through the cave’s enormous caverns.
Lipa Cave is one of the largest caves in Montenegro. The cave with a system of about 2.5 kilometres of passages and halls. The difference in elevation between the highest and the lowest point in the cave system is more than 300 m. Part of the cave contains an underground river, it starts close to the village of Lipa and stretches into the mountains by the Adriatic Sea. The temperature in the cave is 8–12 °C. Lipa Cave is the only cave in Montenegro accessible for group visits and has the longest passages and greatest number of preserved cave formations than other caves inn the region. The cave is rich in cave formations—stalactites, stalagmites and stalagnates (pillars) with many being found in a small space. Some of the most significant stalactites are spaghetti, popcorn, crocodile, and curtain formations. Some of the most significant stalagmites are totem and gral formations.
